Default Transmission rebuild question

Last month I lost 3rd in my 2000 ws6 automatic. My mechanic suggested that I replace my 4 pinion front planet with a 5 pinion. And install a transgo reprogramming kit since it will all be apart anyway. he said the 5 pinion would cost me 200. and the kit installed 250. this is all foreign to me, is it worth it.

Yes it is worth it.

The 5 pin planet will provide added durability, strength. The kit is smart money.

Is "Transgo" a good company recommendation for the the kit? Do the prices on both sound accurate?

Yes Trans-Go is the preferred company for this transmission.... they are the oldest aftermarket transmission parts company. Years ago they patented the term "Shift Kit" and would hammer anyone who used it in their own packaging or advertising!

Prices are relative to the immediate market, but yes you are getting a fair shake.

I was reading about the kit and noticed a disclaimer that read, "98 up: If vehicle has Torque Management this kit will not make hard shifts." what can i do to rectify this problem?
