FLT level 4/Yank PT4400 full review
I've been posting bits and piece since I got the tranny in last week, but we finalized the tune this evening so I thought I'd give a full-fledged review.
I used what I thought was a pretty ingenious method (compliments of Rhino79, thanks Ryan!)for cleaning out my cooler lines/coolers after my old tranny grenaded. He gave me a fuel pump out of a 4.8L truck. I hooked this up to my cooler lines with a return hose and pumped through a large container of mineral spirits that Vince at FLT recommended. The fluid came out black and full of shavings at first, and I kept pumping until it was clear mineral spirits coming out. I then ran two quarts of tranny fluid through until it came out solid clean fluid. Worked great and alleviated any fears I had of running trashed fluid through my new tranny. No pics, the camera was dead, but like I said, it worked like a champ.
First review goes to the FLT level 4. This thing is truly a work of art. It shifts so smooth and fast. The shifts are soft at part throttle with the large converter, but nice and snappy at WOT. It's not intrusive in any way, just a very positive feel. My old tranny shifted different every time with a shift kit that would snap your neck at 10% throttle and not even register at WOT. So this FLT unit is exactly what I wanted. The shifts firm up with throttle input, exactly like they're supposed to. I've already lauded FLT's customer service and willingness to go the extra mile, and this slick tranny is the icing on the cake of an absolutely wonderful buying experience. I'm a customer for life!
My other review is for the Yank PT4400. Big thanks to Yank for taking my SS4000 and converting it to this monster. The differences between the SS4000 and the PT4400 are night and day. This converter pulls so much harder everywhere. I loved the SS4000, but I'll never go back after experiencing this beast. It's looser than Jenna Jameson with the 3.23's (takes about 2500 RPM's to accelerate with traffic), but a 9" with 3.90's will be helping that out in the near future. Shift extension is right at 5700. Rolling starts are a fight for traction at anything below 50 MPH. I've got a few 40 MPH rolls that hooked and put the biggest grin on my face, but it has also gotten sideways on me at 50 MPH. So this converter is no joke and certainly not for the faint hearted. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with the performance gain over the SS4000.
Overall, I think I have a perfect combo. The TR230 makes awesome power everywhere, and the badass FLT and Yank harness that power and squeeze every bit out of it. I'll be going to the track Thursday so I'll post the results when I get back. FLT/Yank *** .

Now it's time for you to go pull some 1.5x 60's and get that 11.xx slip, It might take the 3.90's to get you where you want to be in the end, but the car will run 11.70's like it sits in my opinion.
Congrats Ben, your car has come A LONG WAY since we first plugged into it!

Congrats, i had a blast with my ss4000 when i was big cam and heads. Now i have a baby 2800 vig for my new turbo setup. You should go mid to high 11s easy with you setup if you can hook.

Ain't that the truth! I was thinking about that today. Funny how when I first met you I thought it'd be years before I ever got half way to where I am now. But I'm loving this setup through and through. You know, it's kind of your fault......You're a bad influence . But also one hell of good source for info, and we all know about your tuning abilities around here. Thanks again for everything. Couldn't have done any of this without your help .

yank and FLT are the best in the bizz.
the only problem i've found with Yanks products - is the fact that once you install them, you have to completely re-do your susspension to try and get some traction!
those are some hard hitting converters.

Did you do this test with street tires on with the pt4400? last night I thought it would be cute to put my 245 street tires on my stock 16" rear wheels and do some cool burnouts. Well needless to say with my pt4000 its almost not even fun to drive on the street with street tires. the car is all OVER the place just hardly on the throttle. I run those 325 mt et radials traction is hard to come by from a dig to 20 mph after that it does decent

How big of a difference is there from the 4000 to the 4400? I'll have 3.73's in the back, but no exhaust mods or cam (yet). Car will not see any power adders. I've been on the 4000, I think the 4400 would be too much for now. Car sees a mix of city/hwy.
