got one due to franks great service/comunication--i tell you that guy is always online. I can't really give you too much detail/impression on the trans yet due to a converter issue that im having (no not one from performabuilt) but from what i can tell is shift a whole lot better than my stocker with shift kit. Its much more positive feal/quicker shifts.

The tranny came with a prominently displayed green sheet that says, "Pay particular attention to the notes on the next page about:
1. Requirement of cooler line flushing before installation.
1. Requirement of external cooler installation.
3. Requirement of by-passing your radiator.
but there was no 'next page' that referred to any of this stuff. Do you know to what this is referring?
Thanks

I'm looking @ the 4l60e lvl 1 with cooler and converter for my '98 Z28/LS1. Car's making 330 RHP and 356 RTQ now, but there is def a H/C swap in the future. Don't ever really plan on any power adders, but ... Do ya think a lvl 1 will be good enough?

FINALLY got mine installed completely today and took it for a test drive. Shifts great and feels so much better that the old worn out stocker. Many thanks to Frank with Performabuilt and Vince at FLT. Both guys offer great support, even if you don't buy from them. You can't be much cooler than that! I thought I had an issue for a panicky moment. The TC went on 1/2" within the bell housing just like instruction #18 in the included instructions stipulated and I then went towards the tailshaft and inched the tranny onto the dowels of the block. I started all the bolts before tightening any and then hand tightened the two on the drivers side. Then, moving over to the passenger side I hand tightened the lowest bolt till I felt resistance. I then started tightening the bolt that also anchors the tranny dipstick with my rachet. As it began to resist, I heard a metallic 'pop' and I instantly stopped and moved up (I was using the 24" long extension on the ratchet) to where I could see the bolt. Oh Crap.. it snapped off that bolt holes ear on the bell housing. WTH?? I jammed my head under the bell housing and looked up. The TC was still the 1/2" into the bellhousing and the drivers side of the bellhousing was flush against the block, but the passenger side was about a 1/4" off the block. ???? I looked to see if I'd trapped a cable or some foreign object between the bell housing and block but that's when I saw the TC was flush against the flexplate. ??? Since it wasn't yet bolted together, the TC should've been loose and movable by hand. Nope. It was tightly wedged and not budging. Crap~~~! I decided to loosen all bolts until the TC was freely movable and think about what was going on. I started thinking that the TC, arriving separately, might actually be for an LSx instead of my LT1. I tried to contact Frank at Performabuilt but this seemed to be the one time in weeks he hasn't instantly responded to my YIM. I then sent a PM to Vince at FLT and he doubted that it was an LSx vs. LT1 issue, suggesting that in all probability, I didn't have the TC on fully. I told him it was in 1/2" but he indicated that a full inch was better advice. I went out, dropped the tranny down on my tranny jack and took my rubber mallet and, while rotating the TC with my left hand, I tapped moderately on the TC. Sure enough, it descended another 1/2". After that, it went right on. Whew~!! Next agonizing period though was when Vince and a buddy of mine said, "You might have broken the pump by tightening it down while the TC wasn't fully seated". Oh man... I wanted to puke on that news. My buddy said,"To make sure the pump is working, unbolt the TC from the flexplate so you can rotate it by hand. Then undo the sending tranny coolant line to the radiator. Put 2 qts of Tranny fluid in it and then rotate the TC and see if any fluid comes out the 'sending' line". What he didn't tell me was how many times I needed to spin the TC. I spun it 5 times. Nothing. <Sweating begins>. I spun it 10 times. Nothing. <Cussing begins> I spun it 15 times and was just about to give up when, dribble, dribble, dribble.. EUREKA!!! I buttoned everything back up and attached the included tranny cooler. Loaded up the fluid and started the car, then added the remaining fluid and checked the level. After checking all shifting points and rechecking the fluid levels and looking underneath for drips(none thank God) I took it for a test drive. Shifts are buttery smooth. THANKS FRANK! THANKS VINCE! And thanks to my bud Kevin at Extreme Automotive in Rensselaer, NY for his tip about checking the pump.
