Default transmission cooler hose

I just got a b&m cooler. Ive heard of people saying not to use the hose the package comes with because it is more prone to leak? What should be used in this case?

I haven't had any issues using it, been on there a few years now. The stock setup uses some hose too.

My cooler is being installed now at a shop that my uncle works at. The owner of the shop said he would choose to use braided stainless steel lines in place of the hose. I told him to do that if it was absolutely necessary, so we'll see what the car looks like when it comes home today. I kinda feel weird having somebody else mod my car for me, this is the first time that has happened. Feels like a waste of money. Anyway, back on track, the speed shop guy said the B&M cooler's included rubber lines are good to go, just make sure that if you need more you get fuel line rated at 50psi+, not the regular coolant/vacuum hose. Good luck.

Not sure if I agree with using a hose only rated to 50psi. These 4l60e transmissions are capable of having 100psi of cooler pressure. If you need rubber hose for your cooler I would suggest getting high pressure power steering hose. Years ago when I worked on cars that is what we used at the shop. The biggest problem that I saw with cooler kits is the clamps. They are the cheapest clamps out there. We would throw those away and use a fuel injection clamps. Never had an issue with using them. Just little tech tip from my younger days. Vince

You didn't listen to your momma when you were a kid when she said you better eat your carrots! Or the old saying if you play with that thing to long you'll go blind!

For the love of God DO NOT USE THAT HOSE!!!

Get SS braided hose.

Ask me how I know. I am VERY familiar now with the look and smell of Automatic Transmission fluid.

Do it right the first time or you will be sorry.

B&M should be shot for putting that crap hose in the box with the cooler.

People say it will leak, others say it wont. I dont want to take the chance, rather just do it once and be done with it. Where can I get this?

Just about every big parts supplier carries it. I'm sure Jegs, Summit, etc. would be fine or anywhere else you can find a good price.

The hose is crap. Those who say it works have very mild setups and good luck. I had good luck for the first 2-3 months, but eventually went to 3.42 gears, a built tranny, and swapped the stock converter for a vigilante. Upgraded the cooler to a larger one at the same time. Then the problems started, the pressure and heat of the fluid were too much, the hose kept blowing out of the an fittings, which are very tight and very nice pieces. SS braided line solved that problem.
