Default converter choise guys

ive had a fuddle 3200 with 3.73 cam only and i use to cut 1.60 on motor....and id run 7.60 at 90
with the 125 shot it would cut 1.48-1.50 and run 7.0 at 99-100

now ive got a little more power (10hp, and 25 ft pounds) and a yank 3600 with 3.42 and i can get better than 1.78 60' on motor and on spray it cuts 1.60 and runs 6.80 at 103
i leave on a 125 shot and it has had traction problems so it might cut a 1.53 or so but not any better....

im about to switch to 3.89's

my question is im spraying a 200 shot i really dont care about n/a times although id like to get 1.6x 60' on motor and low 1.4 on spray (125-150) shot
im way more into it running fast on nitrous not motor...would yall reccomend waiting till i get the 3.90 and see how it runs? or should i go up to a 4000 now? and will the 4000 sacarfice top end mph? also if i go to a 4000 sized stall what series do you reccomend? currently ive got a ss3600
only reason im debating switching is because i hear yeanks are already under rated and i wanted a true 3600 compared to my old fuddle 3200 would have been perfect..but i wasnt happy with fuddles efficiency, thought it could be slightly better
i really like keeping the efficiency for mph/street runs

my car has the same gear/coverter set up and has only gone 1.6x once on motor and a best of 1.58 on 125 shot with a 3660 race weight. hope this helps i talked to yank and they said if i switched to a ss4000 i would need to raise my shift points to above 6600 to run the spray to keep from blowing thru the converter. i too wanted better na times with the SS3600

no....but i can if i need...i would do some 4.5x gears if it wasnt a street car where i have to drive on the street/freeway...

whats wrong with shifting into 4th? i see you also have a cpt tranny...frank says its ok, as for now im doing 3.9 since its a street car

also i do way more 1/8 mile racing then 1/4

yea it is but look at how big of a hit my n/a times took? not a big deal to me...but im assuming to go faster with nitrous i have to go faster with motor...

i just have to get that best balance between nitrous e.t(size stall) and nitrous mph(efficiency)

oh, that would be ok since you race more 1/8th mile. I was just under the assumption that you wanted to stay in the 1:1 gear for max power and acceleration. I've read that it's hard on WOT shifts into 4th gear, especially under spray. Even on a built trans 4th seems to be a weakpoint. But I'm probably wrong. I have too much stall with my Yank SS4000 and a 150 shot. I'm pushing the converter and im running out of gear at the end of the track with 3.42's

at 116 your outa gear with 3.42 then that converters not too efficient? or your shift points are at a low rpm

and frank has been asked and said its fine 3rd and 4th hold just as well as one another...so it would be fine...that would be awesome to do a 5.xx gear haha

My SS4000 and a 150 shot with 4.10 gears blew threw the converter, and ultimately blew my expensive built 4L60E. The SS4000 was great for N/A though.

My PY3400E with 3.23 gears worked awesome with a 150 shot, trapped 128 mph with a 1.60 sixty, back in the day.
