Default Yank SS3800 videos

Did a couple quick vids with my sister's point and shoot camera so quality isn't the best. I figured it may help some people who are considering a TC change see a little what its like.

Vid #1... just a regular start going through the gears until the converter locks
http://lsx.streetfire.net/video/44ac...140013c686.htm

Vid #2... 30mph punch. Happens about 35 seconds in.
http://lsx.streetfire.net/video/4125...140011eb0c.htm

Vid #3... street start 0-90. Pussyfooted it to make sure it didn't spin too much. According to the Interceptor guage I have the best 0-60 on these tires is 4.6 . As soon as I get some fat drag radials That will go down on the street. The track is another story
http://lsx.streetfire.net/video/075e...14001683a4.htm

Hope this helps some people.

Depends. From a standing start it goes to about 3800 if not just a bit more. From a roll say in 2nd gear I've looked down and seen it go up to 4500 and start pulling.

When I got it tuned he had told me it was set at 65mph but obviously it can lock before that. I can pretty much tell when its going to lock depending on driving style. And yea that 60' was on the stock rear. I have Motive 3.73's and I had a full install kit with all the bushings put in when it was done. Also has a TA rear cover if that helps any. Seems to be fine so far.

That was the only 1.5x time I've gotten so far (only been to the track 3 times) but have had quite a few 1.6's and I daily drive the car. That was on some 245 Nitto dr's too. You'll love that SS4000. My 1/8th mile time went from 8.6 @ 86 to that 7.82@89 with the converter and 3.73's.

First run I didn't know what to expect so I revved it a little and then just let 'er rip and it did a 1.68 60'. It was a crazy feeling when you're not expecting it!! Especially coming from a prev best 2.0 60'

Were all those runs rolling into WOT? I have the same 'veter with 3.23s and my shift extension is like 5300-5400. I don't know if that's because my LTs moved the power up a little bit, but it just seemed like maybe you weren't going WOT.

Regardless, nice vids' and congrat's on the stall

Yea I was rolling into it. It was like 35* out and tires were spinning majorly. That shift extension seems high to me? Mine is usually around 49-5000. I have longtubes also. Maybe yours shifts higher than mine and thats why?

OK, that makes more sense. I didn't want to seem like I was trying to steal your thunder by saying I can't go WOT at 30 MPH because there's no way I could get traction (I heart my Yank!!!) I have a stock long block so I have my rev' limiter set to like 6300 and lowered my shift points like 3-4 MPH lower on all the shifts.

I want to know how you pull a 1.58 with that combo'!!! Do you leave with the shifter in first? The reason I ask is if I leave the shifter in DRIVE if I try to stall higher that 3000 RPMs, the tranny automatically goes into second and that's the gear I'd leave in. I've been thinking about trying to leave with the shifter in FIRST so I could stall higher, however I don't know if that would make a difference. I'm also at full weight (3625 lbs. before my 270 lb. bum) so I don't know how much more slower that's going to make me.

The 1.58 was on like my 3rd run with the combo. Honestly I don't know what I brake stalled it up to. Just left the shifter in D- haven't messed with anything else. Plus I can't brake stall it up over ~2500 until my brakes can't hold it. Haven't been able to back it up with another but have done numerous 1.6's. I think alot of it was track prep. I ran right after this funny car looking thing and they put down HELLA track prep for him and I came up right after and reaped some benefits . Pretty sure I had the Nittos at 19psi too. This next year I'm going to try and get some etstreets to make it more consistent.

MPG didn't go down that much. With 2.73's I was getting consistent 25-26 on the highway and like 20 around town.

Now I get ~23 highway and about 17 in town. I don't drive fast on the highway though. Usually 65-70max. Sucks going to work 17 miles each way when it costs me $6+ just to go to work!! I can hardly tell the difference now in the way it drives though. I got it put in in October and I bet if I tried to drive a stock stall car it would be wierd.

Very interesting. How loose is the stall??

Im still on the fence if I want a M6 or A4 and seeing the video of the actual stall at worked is damn cool. Hard to find them for some reason.

Mine will also be a DD so Im just a little worried about MPG.

Its loose enough where you'll def know its there but not so bad as to stop you from driving it everyday. I'm in college so I use it to buzz around town and 400 mile highway trips back home. I had a Tahoe before this and it got like 15mpg no matter how I drove so this is like an economy car. All highway driving I can still get over 300 miles /tank

245 on 16" lt1 saladshooters

Got them used with the wheels for $100 and they worked perfect for what I used them for. Didn't hook at the track very well when it was under 50* but at prettymuch anything above that I give them 2 thumbs up. Didn't really use them on the street except for driving back and forth to the track.
