How much tuning will I need to do for this..

You can drive it without a tune, but I do not recommend that.

They need to optimize your shift points, part throttle and WOT shifts. Tranny pressure, you could work with, personally I haven't. Are you doing gears with the stall?

I already have 3.73's in the car..
So basically I am putting the stall because I dont like the fact that I spin my tires at around 1100 RPM... That does not give me the ability to launch good..
Pretty much driving out of the hole.

My car is already tuned for the 3.73's

and I have tranny pressure adjusted, and shift points changed...
as well as RPM limiter.

i drove my car with a 3400 stall untuned for a year and loved it. After tuning the shift points and tuning for the stall i fell in love with the car all over again.

I have Yank ST 3500 stall and got the tranny tuned for it. Drives like stock around town when cruising and bad outta hell when WOTs. Tune it, your tranny will LOVE you.

I agree with the tuning. Mine also drives like stock around town, and kicks some serious butt when I nail it.

When installing a converter with a higher stall, I have seen where the reverse idle is off a bit. This will cause the engine to run ruff or die. The right way to do it is to have it tuned but as mentioned above some of you guy's have gotten away without it. Vince

I dropped a Yank 4200 stall and it drives fine but it does have issues? it will not shift at WOT on the 2-3 shift, and sometimes it just dies like 3-4 times in a row for no reason but then it act's OK? it will also come out of OD sometimes and after awhile or after you stop for a few minutes it will be fine? but it has got me to a 7.9@8? mph in the 1/8 with out the benefit of good traction and not shifting on the 2-3 shift before the finish line so I know I have something left in the TUNE!!!!

This might have something to do with your dieing OMEGA...
just a thought..
Vince says he has seen where the reverse idle might cause car to die with higher stall

he's right... my car does this. after putting my new tranny/stall in, my previous tune is now off a little bit. The car will try to die in reverse sometimes, and i also get some KR on each shift if i nail it from a stop. tune it.

Sorry old post... After I get my stall installed... Does it need a break-in period? I'm going to drive out of state to get my car tuned...
