A6 6L80E in an f-body?
Please don't move this to the automatic transmission section... it is f-body specific.
I'm wondering if anyone has taken the 6-speed automatic from the C6 Corvettes and put it in a 4th gen f-body. It's a swap I'd seriously look into, considering how steep 1st gear is in the A4 TAs and how much power is lost in the first two upshifts. I'd like the crisper response of the Vette's A6 and the fuel mileage at the top end, not to mention the higher torque rating.

Yea I asked about this already in the LT1 section and you'd need to run some aftermarket computer SPECIFICALLY for that trans, or a whole aftermarket system for the car and the trans.
I think if you got something that was LS Based (if you have an LS1 FBody) that it might be easier to convert to, but that's the only thing I can think of.

Seriously, this topic has been beaten to death. At this time, it is impossible for an F-body to run a 6L80/6L90.
The transmission in an F-body is controlled via the PCM. In the 6L80E/6L90E, the transmission itself has a built-in electronic controller. This means the 6L80E/6L90E's operations are not controlled by the PCM, so it's completely incompatible at this time.
Speartech is working on a harness to make this possible, but it's in the development and testing stages. It could be ready in a few months or it could be a few years. Maybe they'll scrap the project altogether and it'll never happen. At this point it's completely unknown when, if ever, a 6L80E/6L90E will run behind an F-body.
10 minutes of searching would have yielded all this information instead of waiting hours for people to reply. I'm not trying to be mean, it's just this topic has been covered many, many times.

Will the new Camaro be an "F-body" though? The F-body was given its name because of its chassis design, correct? The new Camaro is using the Zeta platform, which will be shared by many other vehicles, right? So, will it really be an F-body, then? Or will there be a whole mess of other F-body's?

Can these trannys not be run full manual shift? It is a lot of fun running around with a full manual shift auto, it's like a stick minus the clutch lag. In my 93 TA with a 700R4 I have a B&M rachet shifter and it is a BLAST to drive using the manual shifting.
