Default Tranny has been sitting...

I'm picking up a 4L60E out of an 02 camaro this weekend, and it has been sitting since the car was wrecked in 04. It is very low miles, so basically my question is should I do anything special before I drive with it, maybe fill it with some cheap fluid and run it for a minute, then drain it and refill again?

I think that is a very good idea. I would recommend that when you fire it up for the 1st time to have the wheels off of the ground so that the unit does not see a load the first few times through the gear ranges. This would allow all of the lube circuits and the converter to fill without fear of damaging the soft parts.

After that run it a few days taking it easy and then change the fluid.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to call me.

Thanks, thats what I was planning on. It will be swapped soon for a built unit but I want it to stay in top shape.
