stock mount vs replacement ( looks different ) ?
My stock mount has this tail piece that looks like its acts as a bump stop or something? Another piece seems to interlock with it.
The replacement mount I bought doesn't have this.
What is this for?
Do I need the same as stock one?
Please see pics>
Thanks

In answer to the OP's question.... those "tabs" will keep the transmission from moving around should the mount fail.
Consider it Factory Overkill. If the replacement is a direct bolt in, go with it and don't worry.
But, as with any High Performance vehicle regular maintenance is part of the game. So get under there and inspect those mounts about every 60 days or so!

the new mount i bought looked similar to that. it didn't have the stock tabs either. however, i ordered it gmpartsdirect and i am wondering if i ordered the wrong damn mount. i got the part number off of this site but i think someone posted the wrong part number when i searched. after more research i found two different part numbers and i am not sure what is the right one...

I appreciate the fact you guys are wanting to get it right the 1st time. I applaud the effort you have put into these mounts so far. But........ you are wayyy overthinking this subject.
The best way to get teh correct mount is to go to your local Chevy house and order it out of their catalogs. Or run the one I install very, very often with no issues... it is made by Anchor and is supplied by O'reilly's.

i have went to napa, advanced auto, and autozone and not one of these stores can even get me a rubber tranny mount for our cars. so, i searched on here and found a part number. well it is definatly a different height than the gm one i have now so i wondered if it was the wrong one. so i got back on here and searched more. i ended up finding two part numbers and i have a feeling the one i have is the wrong one. it is a a factory gm mount but i don't know for which vehicle. i would just put this one on if i knew it would work. since it looks way different than the factory mount on my car i wasn't sure what to do. what scared me the most is that it looks like the mounting height is a ways off. i may go get a pic of it right now just for comparison.

here are some pics to show the differences. the new gm replacement mount is on the left. the factory gm mount is on the right. once again, i may have ordered the wrong part. as you can tell the mounting height appears to be different (sorry that this pic is a little blurry.

Advance Auto sells the Anchor brand, look it up here-- partsamerica.com under 'replacement parts-> engine parts and mounts'. bottom left of list=trans mount.
They show the same basic pic click on each one and click on 'see all vehicles this fits', the lists date back to 1967. Anchor part number 2817 is specific for 2002 Camaro but it looks like what you have.
I'd want the right part too because my mount isn't broken but the tabs show signs of contact, thanks to the torque arm lifting I'm guessing.
This mount would be fine for anything with no trans mounted torque arm.

Let me get you a part number in the morning.... if you have not heard from me by mid day call my shop and rattle my chain. We're pretty swamped, but I want you to get on with it!
Photos are really crappy to work with sometimes. How much has the old mount collapsed?

i don't think my stock mount is collapsed at all. it isn't broke. i just replaced it with a prothane so that is why it is off the car. i had the prothane on my car since this summer and it does work fine. there is more vibration with it though. my car is pulling a little bit of retard and i am wondering if part of it is coming from all of my poly mounts. i am leaving the poly motor mounts in for sure but i think i am going back to a rubber tranny mount.
