Default deep tranny pans.

Has anyone noticed any difference in tranny temps going from a stock pan to a deep pan with fins?

slightly lower temps with a B&M. But the with the added capacity temps rise a lot slower.Especially when racing, the larger resivor is better IMO.

I like a deep pan as longas its configured like the stock GM deep pan to use the longer filter which to me is the biggest benifit, The fins probably do allow for some minimal cooling in cooler weather, Not sure about the hot summer weather surounded by hot asphalt, exhaust and engine heat. I think the capacity is the biggest plus

How much lower do the deeper pans sit. My car is pretty damn low and not sure if it would survive the mean streets of Houston .

Heres pics of the deep trans pan that came on my FLT Tranny. I think its a truck pan? not sure... but I do remember it being a good deal deeper than the one on the stock trans. It helps for sure in keeping the trans cooler and more consistent. hard to tell from the pics but my headers would get crushed before the trans pan does.

My dearle pan was good for a few degrees of cooling. I like TCI pan best, but it is pricey.

The pans don't do much when the vehicle is standing still on a hot day, but one you are moving they help. Even 130* air coming off hot asphalt is cooler than the oil, so it still helps.

I never had any clearnace problems with mine. It did take a bit longer to get to lock-up temprature in the cold weather.
