Going bigger??
I have a Midwest 3500 stall in my SS now...It isn't very loose, it doesn't flash real high, but it has good shift extension & is in perfect working order, along with my stock 4L60E.
My car made 420/388 & the car has been high 11.6s-low 11.7s on the motor, 60 ft times have always been 1.7s w/ some 1.68s & 1.69s on 17" MT radials. (Full weight, 3.73s)
I picked up a set of Bogarts for next season...
I was 100% ready to have a new converter installed next month, but I have had second thoughts. The $1000 that is going to cost to swap is only one of the cons I have thought of. I'd hate for my trans to say goodnight, with a new converter, in order to gain just a little performance.
With no other changes to the car, just the wheels/tires, does anyone see any significant reasons to go with the swap? I have seen guys with less power, similar weight & stock suspension pull down some low 1.6-high 1.5 60 fts. What kind of ET are we talking, if I am able to knock 1 tenth off the 60' & is it worth the $$$ & other risks?
Thanks!

I used the Midwest 3600 stall and was not too bad. I upgraded to the Yank SS4000 and these converters are like night and day. The SS4000 has better performance and daily drives great. I am shifting at 6,600 rpm and I stay around 5,500 going to the next gear. The Yank is lighter and a much better choice. BTW, I am still on the stock 4L60E.
