4l60e power limit
I am seeing alot of claims of 9 second cars running 4l60es.i want to see some proof.and im not talking about 5 passes.lets see some info on 4l60es going all season in the 9s without coming out of the car.be honest here.I recently saw a claim of 800 hp.if i was so skeptical id buy one to break just to prove this is a false claim.we will be releasing a 2.80 first gear planet for the trans thru patc in louisianaa and us only however i still cant see this extending the power range any further.

There are guys running low 9s and 10s regularly But the trans will require a fresh up and 800 hp would definatly be a max limit on one, But then again HP handling is relative , Hp in a 2800 pound car would be different from the same in a 4200 pound car. At the same time 800 hp with 273 gears would be different from the same car with 456 gears. Its really a relative number. We use them to give people general guide lines and when they call to order of course I ask them what they have and all about there car and mods. Then I tell them how a 4l60e will hold up and in quite a few cases have told them while we would warranty our trans in the 750+ Hp range that they were certainly pushing it really hard and possibly if moneys avaiable consider and 80E . However many times money is just the issue its and exspensive swap, And hardly anyone wants to give up overdrive for a 400 either.
On the planets they dont address the weak link only change ratio, If someone really wanted to address the issues of the 60e they would develope a better input drum, A better sprag than the BORG WARNER 29 which is good but still not the greatest and a true billet input shaft would be good, Then you could raise the power level on up a bit. I am not so sure about 4-5-6 pinion planets either, I know in the 4 and 5 pinion planets the most comon issue I see it the center striped out not the planetarys themselves or even the race breaking. IMHO
Unfortunatley I dont see most of that happening as its cost prohibitve. Eventually as they become available and controllers are developed I see many people presently with the 60e swaping to the 6L80E as from what I have read its bosting some impresive HP/TQ numbers factory. But that will be a while yet.

we do make a bilet input shaft.id make a drum a drum if people guaranteeed a purchase of 50 pieces.ive got the cnc machines ,programmers and programming skills and access to people at gm for info i dont have.visit my site.that trans is done a 575 lbs ft.ratio change would shorten the 1/2 shift time in miliseconds from start to finish, although not a matter of concern it may require softening the 1/2 shift via more accumulation time in piston stroke or plate hole size.remember how it works the front planet is on in first and overdriven in 2nd.locked in third and mass overdriven in fourth.a new powerflow over all the previous designs.can it live at 600 horsepower and 600 ft lbs for 50 runs in a 3500 lb car?

I see the 6L80E or even better the high torque 6L90E being amazing performance transmissions with a stall and that the TM removed. They have a really agressive first gear which will be interesting for those wanting to run deep rear end ratios.

I talked to the guys at FLP and they told me they are a lot of guys running the level 4 at the 700-750 RWHP range. I don't know if they were telling me that or not.
