Default whos cammed + stalled with stock tranny?

like the title says, how many of you guys are still on stock trannies? how is your tranny holding up. i finally got enough funds to get my cam, vig 3200 w/ tranny cooler, 3.73 all at once. but im wondering if i would be okay on my stock tranny. i gotta 02 Z28 w/ 47k. i never take it to the track or beat it up.

i took the stock tranny out of my car with 52k on the odometer. 20k miles w/yank ss3600 and 10k of which had heads cam putting 400+ rwhp through it. The last 5k miles were all track and killing the thing, manually shifting all the stuff you weren't suppose to do. That tranny never missed a beat, worked flawlessly when i took it out. No shift kit or anything, had a good cooler and make sure you keep the fluid fresh.

I had a stock tranny with 119,000 miles on it. Had a Pro Torque 2800 stall, cam, headers, etc. Lasted about 30,000 more miles driving daily and hitting it pretty hard at times. My current set up is a Yank SS3600 stall, 3:73's, cam, headers, etc. I bought a stock take out tranny with 500 miles on it. Again I hit it pretty hard at times and it holds up fine. I have retired the car from daily driving though. I have put another 10,000 on this one with no issues yet. I do have a trans cooler on the car as well.
For the record, the car is ALOT of fun to drive.

If you don't beat on it it could last indefinitely. Mine lasted for several thousand miles cammed and stalled until I had to bypass the tranny cooler and then it didn't last long at all
Where in Texas are you?

I just replaced my tranny in Dec. I bet it could've lasted for at least another year, but I finally did it for peace of mind. It had about 75k on it with a SY3500.

When it was only h/c and was my daily driver, I had no problems. However, the only reason I think it lasted for as long as it did was because I never ran it at the track and never had sticky tires. I only had a tiny B&M cooler too, but the fluid was changed about once a year or every other year. With my blower set up, it lasted for over 2yrs. But, in that time, it was no longer a daily driver and only saw nice weekend weather (although I still beat on it on the street).

I think it's pretty much just the luck of the draw though.

I honestly believe you will be fine, especially if you don't take it to the track.

I have a 99 A4, I put a 3600 stall, trans cooler, and cam in it about 20k miles ago and it's still going strong. However I expect it to go pretty soon after the turbo kit is on....
