bypass or another cooler
ok i have a vig 36-3800 stall and a drive my car around town alot and it gets really hot a have a small napa cooler and a derale tranny pan but they dont seem to work i added a auto meter trans temp gauge and if i drive alot in traffic it bumps 250 degres and it starts shifting funny what do i do bypass the stock cooler or add another cooler in sequence

sound slike something else is wrong, because i had a 3500 stall with a cheap autozone cooler, no deep pan, and never had cooling issues? run a 160 stat to kepp the coolant flow more, maybe that will help you stock trans cooler

I would say bypass it. Where you live it will never get cold enough for the tranny fluid to gel. That alone might be all you need to do but throwing another good cooler at it wouldn't hurt either. Whatever you decide do it quick...with temps like that your tranny's days are numbered. If it were me, I would get a big tranny cooler mounted in front of the radiator and bypass the stock one....my .02

First, bypass the radiator cooler. Your tranny will only run at water temps, which is around 210 IIRC. Second, get a 24k cooler, such as the B&M. Your tranny is too expensive to waste on a cheap cooler. My tranny runs very cool, usually in the 160-170 range unless I am working it hard. BOL.
