Default Who knows their wiring?...

What I am doing is soldering my main 4L60E connector back to the wiring harness that it was removed from previously. The only problem, is that there are two yellow/black wires, and two pink wires on both the plug and the harness. All other colors match up to a single other wire. How do I know what yellow/black goes to what yellow/black and what pink to pink? Does anyone know if it will matter? (I would hope in a situation like that, that they can go either way). Let me know if you have any idea...

well since nobody got back to you yet and I have no clue .....I would say to buy a Hayes Manual Book of your car. They are like 20 bucks at Pepboys and it will have complete breakdowns and wiring skematics. It would seem like it would be able to do the trick for you. I havent picked one up for fbodys yet otherwise I would be able to help you haha.

See if these will help you. They are for a 99-02 f-body.

Hmmm....Im not sure if I can make sense of it. If only I knew what pins on the face of the connector went to what pins of the pcm I could match them up.

I have an '01 in storage with all the wiring laying in reach, I'll look at it tomorrow. If there is no answer by this time tomorrow I post up what I find.

Thank you guys. Yes, I have an ohmeter and know how, I just dont know what wires go to what pins etc, so Im not sure what is correct and what isnt. I mean, I would think its not that hard to get them straight, but if you dont know where they belong you are dead in the water to start with. It was nice of GM to throw like colored wires on the same connector..

When I did my truck I found out the two similiar colored wires originally just spliced together further up the bundle.
Since I have an '01 I'll look and maybe take pics.

Ok one of the pink wires goes to the 15 amo engine control fuse With switch off and fuse remove check for continuarity between the wire under the car and the fuse block , This wire is the one that feeds the solenoids which is pin E in the connector ,

The other pink wire will be prety obvious once you deermine which the first one is lol.

On the yellow/black wires one is for the 3-2 solenoid to determine which it is on the trans again with the power off measure the ohm load between the pink solenoid supply (e) wire and each of the y/b wires , The one that reads around 11 ohms will be the 3-2 solenoid and should be conected to the wire that goes to C2 PIN 40 on the PCM . The other again will be obvious after that, Hope this helps also heres a diagram also

I was downstairs messsing around before you posted this. I need to go back and check for the ohm loads I guess. I was probing the pcm pins and the pins on the actuall connector and came out like this, but who knows if its right.

1= Yel/Blk #47 (RedConnector)
2=Yel/Blk #37 (Blue Connector)
3=Yel/Blk #51 (Red Connector)
4=Pink #63 (Red Connector)

? ? ? ?
1 ? 4 ? ? ?
2 ? ? ? ? ?
? 3 ? ?

Looking at it with the arrow to the bottom

Thanks for the help. I'll go look into it.

This part confuses me as pin #40 is blk/wht not yel/blk?...

In my above representation, the pin I have labeled 2 has the continuity between the eng cont. fuse and the connector. This pin is a pink wire right at the connector for the trans, but it holds continuity with a yel/blk wire at pin #37 on the blue plug. (This starts to baffle me since it is changing color at some point).

I guess the big question is what will happen if my pinks are not correct or my yel/blks are not correct? What will happen? There are only 4 possible outcomes.

1) I got it right by chance and they each went to the right wire
2) My yellow/blks need to be switched
3) My pinks need to be switched
4) My pinks and my yel/blks need to be switched

I wish I could find a diagram of the connector face like I was trying to make, and it showed what pins on the connector should hold continuity with what pin #s on the PCM.

Oh you've been very helpful Im just not quite smart enough to follow it. I have this..."so close yet so far" feeling...lol. Maybe I can lay down with my brothers 99 WS6 and see what pins his connector has continuity with and then make mine the same. I should only have to swap a couple wires if any. 9 of the 13 wires had an obvious match, but those pinks and yel/blks had two potential matches..
