Default WTF is up with my trans?

This winter I did my cam swap, Still have not done the converter, and I am kind of scared to now. With a few nice days I have got the car out to cruise it a bit, and When I take off, its like the car instantly shifts into second gear, and then slips a little bit, until its in 3rd. It does this 8 out of 10 times I take off in drive. However, If I keep it in first, take off, and shift into second manually, its fine and does not slip or anything at all, but then I put it in drive, come up to a light, take off and it shifts into second and slips some more. Anyone know why its doing this? I was kind of hoping to install my converter this week, tune the car, and head to the track on th 5th. But now I am kinda worried my trans is fucked. Anyone have any ideas? I dont get why it does it when its in drive, but if I manually shift it, its 100% fine.

if ur untuned for the cam it could be sending all kinds of misfire codes and sending the tranny into a limp mode or something.

With a cam that size it could definitely be tune related.

Get a tune and see if that helps. I bet it will. A tune will cure a lot of your problems.
