Default trans problem

i have a 01 trans am.w an automatic trans.i had the trans rebuilt 3 years ago, and six months later i had the shift silinoids replaced. yesterday it was driving fine then all the sudden it wouldnt shift into third gear. could it be the silinoids again or is it the transmission. no engine light came on this time. this was like the 5th time i drove the car this year. it sat for a few months

Seems several people have posted of issues after car setting over winter, But when you say wont shift to third do you mean just wont shift or neutrals where 3rd should be?

i think it goes to neutral, when it should be shifting to 3rd it just revs. the last time i had to get my trans rebuilt it got worse over time. but this time it just happened out of nowhere. im gonna have it look at monday. if it needs to be rebuilt again im just going to buy a whole new one.

If It goes to a neutral like state then likley theres gonna be a 3-4 clutch issue. Generally when this happens suddenly the snap ring has broken out of the drum.

Well you could just repair whats wrong but its not suggested so yes rebuild or replace would seem to be the direction you are headed
