Flexplate question
Hey guys, I just finished building my new forged H/C/I motor and am matching it up with a Performabuilt level 2 tranny and 4k stall, either through Performabuilt or Yank. Should I look into replacing the flexplate? I'm going to be spraying this motor and would like to see 600-700 hp on the spray. Also, since I believe the stocker weighs in the neighborhood of 4 or 5lbs or so would going with a heavier duty flywheel like the TCI which weighs 8lbs I think throw off my balance?
Thanks

While you are in there a heavy duty flex plate is definatley something to consider. Since I have heard of a few cracking at hi power levels like you plan . The additional weight of the TCI should be a zero balance as far as the engines concerned just as placing a smaller lighter torque converter does not affect balance neither would a slightly heavier flex plate

Okay, great! I'll probably go with a TCI flexplate then while I'm there. Also, I'm hopefully pretty close to going ahead and buying my trans through you guys. I got one on layaway a little while back when you guys were having a sale and have been too busy lately to go ahead and finish ordering it and putting it in. It will probably be within the next few weeks. I am also the guy who bought the credit on here a while back from another member. It was $150. I called and talked to Frank, I believe it was and he said to just remind him and they'd add it on. I just wanted to make sure you still had that for me.
Thanks,
Drew

well you have a 98 flexplate which is the stronges out of the 98-02 ta's/camaro flexplates but i would definately think about the tci unit. I know its a bit pricy but when you see it and compair it to the wimpy as hell stocker you will thank yourself and yes the stockers are known for cracking but mostly on the 01-02 flexplates.
