too much oil in trans?

i have a 4l60e trans and its way overfilled with transfluid. is this bad. should i remove the excess oil. also trans oil is leaking out of the breather on top of the the trans.

1/2 quart is as much over you want to be...4l60's are very picky about how much fluid is in them.
