Default PT owners...what is your shift point at?

Ok, I am interested in what all of you PT owners have your shift points set at? Mention if you have the 4000 or 4400 stall as well. Thanks

have you tried to raise your shift point? yank told me the pt4000 had a shift extension of 5900. i told him i had shift points currently set at 6200 and he told me the pt4000 was definatly too much convertor for my car and wouldn't recommend it. he said the pt4000 wants shift points around 6700 and the pt4400 wants shift points around 7200 or so. if the shift points are set lower he said you will blow through the converter. he mentioned we can get away with running one of these converters if i was only interested in 1/8 mile times. so, i would either need to raise the shift points, get a ss4000, or i could run a pt and blow through it. now, i am not saying that he said that a pt4000 will not work unless we shift around 6700, but he said he definatly would not recommend it.

They have been run on stock Ls1's back in the day with those low shift points. You would just have to realize on a stock motor (or near stock motor) your going to be on that extension along time (in fact all of third gear). I would hate to drive as a daily driver with no rpm above my extension. Back in the day my LT1 396 had a small cam and a shift point of 6200 rpms. I ordered that converter and "YEP," it does have way to much extension for my old combo (5800-5900 on my car)...Had the TP4000 tightened up to make it usefull. I have sense moved on to the SS line for street and strip (using a 100 shot) or I would have the PT4k back in my car (I shift at 6700 with my new combo)...

So unless your used to big converter on a car with your combo then you might try a SS4000. Drop down to 5k from your shift points (not the best from a roll), but it would be tighter for your use. Decisions, decisions.....
