alright i got my pt4400 installed, i wasnt plannin on putting it in untill i got a new tranny but someone wanted my ss3600 and i was gettin anxious (sp)..but anyways..everyone said it was too big.. well they where wrong..my car is a full bolt on full weight (removed spair and front swaybar) car with 3.73s and 315\17 bfg drags. i should of listened to everyone along time ago that said go big or go home..this is my third converter in my STOCK TRANNY and its the best one yet..i started with a fuddle 3200 it got boring got a ss3600 i loved it but i dont plan on sprayin my car and there was a deal on this pt4400 so i got it...keeping up with traffic it stays about 2500rpms with the ss3600 it was about 2100-2200 so its not that much of a difference but WOT is the best...and it seems to hook a lil better from 10-20 than the ss3600 im guessin due to the higher str..im in love with my car allover again..as far as keepin the tranny cool..ive got a deep pan a 24k b&m cooler ran in series with the stock cooler. and it seems to do alright...i drove it all over the place yesterday and it never got above 180 (it was 80degrees out) with the ss3600 it hardly ever got over 170 so its not bad. if it seems to get hotter then ill just bypass the radiator cooler..i love this thing

btw on the test drive it bumped the limiter once on the 1-2 and never thought about shiffting the 2-3 but some love with ls1edit by my tuner fixed it right up and its shifting like a champ...and this is a 89k mile stock tranny with a beep pan thats it..im not expecting it to last long but i cant complain its been a great one so far...

I went from a TT2800 to the PT4000 and I never looked back. Now when people ask I tell them to go a shade higher than they are comfortable with. Too many people go with a 3000 or so and they are never happy until they GO BIG OR GO HOME!

yeah im now a true believer of this...your car is one of the ones that made me go PT...ive been wanting the same cam as you forever..just not in the card right now..

Sounds good, now I can't wait to get one to put in! Btw....bypassing the radiator drop tranny temps about 15 degrees for me. I would hover around 190 with the cooler running inline. Now it runs about 175-180.

I tell people, if they plan to stay N/A go for a PT4000 at a minimum. If you want to spray or drive alot, try the SS3600-4000. Any less is a waste of time, and I even hesitate to recommend the SS3600.

thanx for the info. and axually with this converter compared to the ss3600 its alot easier to hook up from a dig..

Have you gotten the shift extension?? The weather has finally allowed me to check on my PT4000 and its 5200!!

But gillbot said I started out with a 3400 2.1 and a blown trans allowed/encouraged me to step up to a 4000+ and I should have done that form the get go.

stock shift points? My current extension is 5100, but that's shifting at 6500 rpms with a 3400 stall midwest converter.

my shift points are at 6200 and its dropping to about 5200 but thats by the stock tach, which is known to be off by a lil...hell on the 1-2 is shows it shifting @ 5k hahaha

Don't count on the stock tach, data log it.

I forgot about this and I was just at the track too. I didn't even bother to check.

oh yeah its way slow..even the speedo seems like it tries to play catch up.. all i have to say all and all im impressed with the new stall and this stock 4l60e ... for a bolton car shifting way under what yank recomends it runs better than the ss3600 and i love it
