Default Anyone had a Problem using the stall out of a bad tranny

I am picking up my new tranny tomorrow and the guy that rebuilt it said that I need to get a new stall because I could never get all the metal out of it. This is my 4th transmission and second stall first was a TCI 3000 and I now have a TCI 3500. First trans was slipping last two the planetary gears were chewed up.

I would just like to know if anyone has had a problem doing this. I really don't see a problem with it but thought I would check.

Oh and the stall worked fine when I pulled the trans.

Hard to say..I had mine rebuilt and decided to get everything done at once..I also went from the stock stall to a little higher of one. IMO it is best to do it all at the same time so you don't have to go back in.

It really depends on wether the contamination got into the converter, But you should follow your builders advice. If you don't do what he says and anything goes wrong I imagine you will have no warranty

I would strongly suggest having the converter cut and cleaned. Debris in the converter can damage a new transmission. Vince

Maybe it's time to upgrade.

I agree, it doesn't cost much and any reputable converter shop can do it. Depending on the brand you can have it sent back and have them do it. Cheaper then purchasing a new converter.

personally i wouldnt put a torque converter that was out of a bad tranny into my brand new rebuilt tranny... i would only put a new stall in it... protect my investment IMHO
