Default 4l60E Tail Housings

Can the tail housing be removed without having to get into the internals of the transmission? My tail housing is leaking near the rear seal (just put in new one) and I think I might have scared the machined surface getting the new seal in. Is swapping tail housings just a matter of unbolting them? Thanks.
