Default shifter cable/linkage not lining up on 4l80e

I'm using a stock A4 shifter with my 4l80e and the cable is longer then the linkage. I'm using the linkage from a 4l60e. Do I need the longer linkage for a 4l80e or is there an adjustment on the cable?

Brad I can tell you my stock A4 shifter & linkage seems to work with my 4L80e. The only modifying I had to do was open the front hole up on the bracket that bolts to the pan.

Mines not perfect but works. I had to modify bracket as did 30th ta, get a small circular rough file and elongate the wholes will they both line up with tranny pan bolts.

I'm calling the little lever on the tranny the linkage. I'm using one from a 60 and not an 80. Just want to make sure we're all on the same page

Stud stayed on there from 4l80e.
Used 4l60e shift linkage.

Bringing this back from the dead... I was thinking I could use my 4L60 linkage and mount bracket but I just cant get it to line up right... those that have used it were you able to just bolt it up? Ill take some pics tomorrow after work. For those that have used the 4L60 linkage and bracket... can you share some pics?

Thanks.

The stock 4l60e shifter, linkage and cable ended up working. The cable just needed adjusting to get the right length.

just need to elongate the holes on the bracket then find which bolts line it up the best.
