Default Th400...DD/strip car.

ok looking at possibly going this route down the road...and im going to hate my car?

right now to give an idea of what I consider "streetable"

have 4.11's, moser 9 inch, swapping to a spool, 10 pt cage, no ac, spherical rod ended susp. qa1's etc. built t-56.

will a TH400 be completely retarded on the street as far as driving? my daily drive is about 10 miles each way. mainly on the highway but stop and go with the traffic.

car will soon have a HSW plate spraying between 100-150 as well.

looking at trapping around 135ish on spray.

what gears for the TH400? 3.73's? 3.42's? at the track i'd run on a 26" tire and on the street run 28" nitto's just to try and keep the RPM's reasonable...

converters...8" 10", etc not to knowledgeable about TH400 converters something in the 4000 range? or what?

Thanks in advance.

Chad

Well the best way to see if a 400 will be palatable to you as a dd drive the 60e around in D3 for a few days and that will be pretty much what you will have except for no lockup converter . To get and approximation of what it will feel like taking off with 3.42 if you have the ability some cars do to start in second manually take off that way

Try not going past fourth gear for a few days. The TH400 will be a little bit worse than that due the slippage of a non lockup converter.

drive down the highway in 4th gear then. if you can live with it, then it will be ok. i have a th-350 and its awesome. not to mention the quick, positive shifts.
