Default no 3rd or OD 95 Z28

I have a 95 Z28 with the 4l60e and I recently lost 3rd and 4th gear accelerating normal from a stop. Whats weird is the transmission does not try to shift at all just acts as it's in neutral until you reach the 2nd gear RPM you would be traveling at in 2nd and goes back into 2nd. Now the even weirder thing is I will randomly get 3rd and 4th back after a couple weeks of driving in 2nd (I have no other way of getting to work). Would this be a stuck solenoid? I'm having bad luck this month with Transmissions lol first my 98 and now my 95 is acting up!

Well if you can get it randomly to make the shift , Shift solenoid B and or the 2-3 shift valve would be suspect. I would change the solenoid .

Could anyone provide the solenoid P/N and a good site to purchase one off?

Bringing my old thread back to life! I finally got around to changing both shift solenoids and I'm still getting no shift. I unplugged the trans from the PCM and it wouldn't default to 3rd. What does this mean? Could there be a problem with the valve body? 1 thing I did notice was a pin was spring loaded on solenoid A but no pin came out of solenoid B?

thats correct on the solenoids and the pins ones spring loaded ones not,
If it would not default to 3rd then there are only two options ,
1- the 3-4 clutch pack is toast
2-the 2-3 shift valve is getting stuck is just floats in there no spring

Ok, Well I figured it was shift solenoids because it randomly went into 3rd/4th while I was driving once and it was shifting great until I shut the car off and parked it for 5 min So it sounds like the pin is getting stuck. What needs to be done to fix that? New VB? The trans has new clutch packs in it and a new pump.

You could remove the solenoid and the remove the valve without removing the valve body rinse the bore out good with starting fluid and clean valve and then reinstall and try it

It's super easy to change the solenoids. I just did it on my 4L60e, but it ended up being the 3-4 clutch. So I bought a level 5 RPM transmission! I used a paper clip and bent it to undo the solenoids. You'll see and it will make sense.

Should the pin come right out with a magnet pen or something of the sort?

Well sounds like you are left with some sort of mechanical issue with the 3-4 clutch set
