Correct, grade 5 and grade 8 are SAE.
Grade 8.8, 9.8, and 10.9 are metric.
The 10.9 is the one you need.

That I don't know.

If the back side of the bolt hole is open, it won't hurt if the bolt is a little long. But if it's a blind hole, then you have to be pretty close on the size.

The TCI flexplate definitely takes a longer bolt than stock.

Also if you have to space the converter by using a washer, you'll need a little more bolt length too. You probably won't have to space it, but it would be good to know for sure.

ones that came with my yank are too short...i bought the next size longer locally....i have tci plate as well. Also, i needed to find some bolts with the rounded hex head like yank sent...regular bolts/heads hit the bolts on my rear engine cover with the tci plate. I got 6 bolts locally for 2 bux....ACE hardware prolly has em.

Factory bolts are usualy 9.8, so that should be the minimum. I would suggest the 10.9 if you can find them. I have used www.theboltdepot.com sometimes. Fast shipping and huge selection. But local is obviously much faster. As far as length, the longest possible is preferred. but do not bottom it out - causes big problems. You need the flywheel and converter to measure properly. The OEM flywheel is about 0.100" or 2.5 MM. I don't have a TCI to measure right now but I would guess about 0.350" or 9 MM. They have about a 0.250" spacer welded to the plate.

Hope this helps a little.

do you recommend a different brand of flexplate? i don't necessarily need more strength but a well balanced, high quality unit is what i am after.
