i run an edge converter, not the most popular brand on this board but they have a good reputation in other places. so far i have been pleased with mine and it was about 100 to 200 less then the most popular brands here, i know bc i priced them. i believe all the brands that are talked about most on here are for good reason, im sure they make a great product. i also wanted to try something different and andre at edge will walk you through everything. you aint getting it for $120 though...i got a great working stock converter if thats all you need.

A good aftermarket torque converter will really wake up an A4 car. It's a night and day difference. It is hands down the best bang for the buck. It will allow the car to leave the line in or near the powerband and let the rpms fall back into a stronger part of the powerband.
I can't see anyone making a decent TC for $120.00.
This is one of those mods that you just don't take a short cut on. If you don't have the $$ to get a quality TC, then save and get one when you do have the $$. You will thank me later.
I've been there and done that.
Good luck!!

Can't go wrong with either Yank or Vigilante. Yank SS3200 is perfect for a daily driver and will take about .5sec off your 1/4 times.
Step up to 3600 for a little better performance but only if you also get stickier tires, as you will wear through them. Yank SS3200 or SS3600 are both 725 from Yank (only place to buy them). Right now they are having a free shipping special too. (Save $55?).
You will loose gas milage (how much depends on the stall and right foot), but who cares on a performance car?

I listened to these guys and was very happy I did: https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic-transmission/938791-precision-industries-vigilante-3600-dumdumdum.html
Its very tempting to go with a $250 converter when you pull up the specs and everything says its the same with regards to stall, str, size, etc. But Its my understanding that those cheaper converters are not only weaker (non billet front covers) but also don't "feel" as tight for regular driving and make the car seem like its an all out race car.

Don't cheap out on a converter. The phrase "you get what you pay for" has NEVER been more true. I decided to save a few bucks and went with a TCI instead of a Yank when I first bought a converter. All the numbers looked good (flash speed, STR, etc) so I figured it was worth it to save a couple hundred bucks. WRONG. The TCI killed my first trans within the first thousand miles when the lockup clutch failed. Then the new one they sent me went into another stock trans. It SUCKED. It was an inefficient, power robbing, ET killing pile of ****. Trust me when I say you want a Yank or a Vig. I lean towards Yank, but Vig is a really close second. Do yourself a favor and spend the few extra bucks to do it right the first time. I won't say Edge converters suck, but they sure as hell arent as good as a Yank or a Vig. Definitely not worth saving the couple of bucks IMO.
