Performabuilt 4L60E and Circle-D 5C converter review
Performabuilt stage 3 4L60E:
WOW! This transmission is awesome. I felt a huge difference from the stocker the first time I felt it shift. Talk about quick neck snapping shifts. The 1-2 shift is so fast that I hardly notice a shift took place. It feels like one long consistant pull. My hats are off to Performabuilt. Here's to hoping this tranny lasts a long, long time
Circle-D 5C converter:
For those who are not familiar with the 5C specs this is a 4400 stall with a 2.6 STR and a 5500 rpm shift extension. Let me first say WOW! This converter replaced a TCI 3500 which felt very tight and streetable to me. I was expecting a huge loss in streetability and looseness. BUT I DIDN"T GET IT. Now don't get me wrong, this converter is noticeable over the 3500 in the looseness catagory but not by much.
From a roll this car pulls WAY harder then it did with the 3500 stall. The stall and tranny combined make the car feel faster then it really is. I would say the car is 10 times more fun on the street now then it was before. My compliments to Circle-D for making a kick *** converter.
Track results:
12.34 @ 109.65 on a 1.67 60'. Now my best before was 12.31 @ 109 on a 1.65 60' so it would appear I gained nothing. But that appearance would be wrong
The temp was in the 80's and it was humid. In other words I was racing in bad air. Now last year when I would race in bad air my car would run 12.5 @ 108 on 1.75 60's. So comparing apples to apples I am .2 quicker and gained 1 mph with this converter swap.
And..........I couldn't dead hook so there is more ET in her! I had to go from a straight idle and with half a tank of gas in order to hook. When I tried brake stalling up to 2-3K rpm's I would spin all the way through first gear. With some LCA's and wider drag radials I know this converter has more to offer. high 1.5 60's should be no problem once I get full traction back.
Summary:
Both the transmission and converter kicks ***. I highly recommend both Performabuilt and Circle-D to anyone in the market. Thier products are awesome, customer service rules and the results were fantastic.
So Performabuilt and Circle-D ----->

We decided to put our Performabuilt Level 3 in today as well, with a Performabuilt 4k stall, and it is very nicely mannered. Our car had the stock tranny with a 3,400 stall in it and you are right in your evaluation, the car pulls extremely hard and the shifts are freaking excellent.
We went with the PB stall, but it also shares a lot of the drivability you described and feels marginally looser than our old 3,400, but man it pulls hard from a roll and from a dig!
Kudos to Performabuilt, this transmission will soon find life behind a LSX 454, but we will have fun warming it up with our 550+ rwhp 346 (on N2O) first!

I really love the SS, this car has been a dream(10.4@130 on stock tranny and rearend), and while I have a lot of pride in the car, it really is my wife's car (mine is the slow car-the Z06)...
It would be cool to see you around bro!
