Default Converter Problems,your help ??????????

I just bought a 99 WS6 TA,with headers and 3:73 gears, and a Fuddle 3600 converter,it ran 12.6 E.T. and felt strong ! Then i was practicing launching on the street and about the time i hit second something broke in the tranny,i had no Drive or 3rd,so i pulled the tranny,i had another already built 4L60e for racing and a 3600 M&M race converter,it has the aluminum big plate on it,it was like an $850 dollar converter, and was told that was the best,so i put that setup in,and sold the Fuddle, when i was all done the car felt alot slower,it wouldnt flash up at all,and wouldnt spin the tires near as much as it did with the Fuddle,it honestly felt like a stock converter ,so i put 4:10 gears and a comp cam 230 Dur 573 lift, and went back to the track with the new parts and tranny and converter, and it ran 12.7 and 12.8 and 60' it was 1.74 with fuddle and now 1.98 not spinning ! So by this time i was heated,so i jerked the so called 3600 back out and took it back to M&M converters, easy guy to deal with,he said he loosened it up,and changed something to make it stall more ! And it helped ,it feels a little better, and flashes about 3000 rpm's when your going and quarter throttle it,it flashes up to 3000,Is that enough to be flashing? But the fuddle overall felt better ! What should i do ? Im tired of messing with it ! Im thinking of going with a Yank 3600-4000 not sure ? What would you all do,that have had this sort of problem ? Will a Yank work even better than the Fuddle ?

Thanks Sorry it was so long, just had to explain, and how burned out i am on this converter problem !

I just read some of the other threads and posts on here, they make me want to go with a Yank SS 4000 ? My best run with the M&M converter with new cam and gears 12.7 at 108mph,and with a 125 shot 11.7 at 118 !And with a 60 ft time 1.90 on spray, and 1.98 on motor,so basically i changed converters both supposed to be a 3600,had stock cam,so i put in a 573 lift comp cam in,and 4:10 gears versus the old 3:73,and went a tenth to 2 tenths slower, and lost 2 1/2 tenths in the 60' ! What should i do ?????????????

I had a fuddle 3600 worked pretty good for about a year then the lock-up cluthes stopped holding. Went with a Yank SS3600, have had it in for about one week now. According to Yank their converter requires a 150 mile break in period. Took me three days to get that done. Per Dave at Yank shift extension on the TC should be 4900-5000rpm. My rpm drops to about 4400rpm if I shift at 6000rpm. Not sure if its the tune or the converter, or just the wrong converter. Lots of people have good luck with Yank TCs, PI Vigalantes have a good reputation as well. Circle D is an up and coming manufacturer with plenty of happy customers, Performabuilt also has a new billet converter available though I havent seen anything about it yet.
The only thing I can say for sure about the Yank TC I have is that I cant get it to hook from a dig, breaks traction when it hits second (never had that problem before), and that my shifts are not what they were with my fuddle. As for the "will a Yank work even better than the Fuddle?" question, I can't answer that yet.

Maybe try a Yank 4400 depending on your power band.
Are you hooking up off the line? What size tire are you running? Have you logged any runs to see whats going on where? Just saying you changed alot of things not just the converter, maybe take a look at everything. With a cam the 3600 converter could be too small.

Havent logged any runs,im running a 275/40/17 MT drag radial, supposed to be 26" but measures at most 25" with plans to go to a 28" tire . It spins through 1st and most of second on the street now,but before i had M&M loosen the converter it spun half way through 1st is all ! Im thinking i need more tuning, even though its been tuned with this setup,im thinking maybe dyno tuned ! My buddy goes to the same tuner and he picked up 65 HP by simply having it dyno tuned !

I installed a Yank SS 4000 a few weeks ago. With my mods it stalls at 4800 and shift points at 6500 the shift extention is 5500. I've raced it once with 60ft's from 1.53-1.57 and ran my personal best ET at 11.55 on a Hot, HUMID day. Love the converter!!!!!
