Default external oil cooler?

Where can i find this 24k cooler that i keep reading about and how much should i expect to pay for one? Just bought a vigi 4200 and want to still be able to get to work on a daily basis. From what ive read the setup seems rather simple although a step by step install w/pics would be a welcome find. Also - a little more info on the "deep pan" im also hearing about - worthwile investment?

Im also wondering how much are these hardened 4l60 rebuild kits and where can i find a good deal on one of those when the time comes.

I got this cooler on my car.

771-12318 Coil Size: 1-1/2''h x 10-1/2''w x 21''l
10'', 4 Blade, 1250cfm Fan

Its the third one down.

They are really easy to install with some braided line and AN fittings. I wired mine into the ignition, everytime the power Accessory is on the fan runs to keep the tranny cool.

I have a Vig 3800 and no tans temp problems here.

A B&M deep trans pan will help with cooling as you will have more fluid to help keep temps down. Here's that link.

This pan is the third from the bottom under GM Transmission pans.

i bought mine from summit, B and M unit and it was like 60 or 70 bucks with adapters and hoses. i didn't go with the deep pan and my temps still stay in check, 180 max in traffic 90+ degrees. i kept the steel pan bc it was easier to weld a bung for a temp sending unit and also threw in a drain pan while i had it off.

Another two cents,
But You may like to take a look at the "Derale" deeper Pan for the
4L60E. Comes w/cooling tubes and a drain plug. Picks up a couple quarts which isn't a bad thing & aids the cooling.

Also about the cooler:
A Fin & Plate type Cooler.
In Front Of Condensor & in unison with Factory Radiator cooling.
AN fittings and no more than 8"tall and you're good between 11"-15" wide.
Racing much? Then look for the better cooling provided by the greater width.
DD and just want insurance for your trans? Then the smaller width is fine.
Don't forget you want air to get to it, around it, and flow over it for your radiator.

thanks - do you have any suggestions on where to get a good deal on one? as for mounting the oil cooler, i took off all the plastic shrouding in front of the radiator between it and the washer resivoir (or however ya spell it) which is also taken out so there is plenty of room up front. I dont like the idea of mounting it down low for fear of bending fins from tall parking markers, road debris etc. I was looking at an 8x11x1.5 big but doable. Isnt it the BTU # that you should pay attention to? I do believe that is a numeric scale of just how well the unit radiates heat. The one i want is like 15-19,000 BTU.

I understand your concerns. no need to remove reseviour or anything.
Mount Cooler's base at base of radiator No problem. if the rad height is good enough for GM, please don't sweat it.

More Cooler surface area gets the air if you Mount it horizontal, not vertical.
This is so air flows over it. JMO

My cooler is 10 inch in width, 5 inch in length, and 2 inches wide... is that good enough?!
I need a quick reply as I don't know if I should by it or not...
(a side note: anyone have a dipstick for the GTO oil pan?!)

Thanks

bigger can be better sometimes, but some designs are better too

i went by the gvw rating of the cooler. I bought jeg's 2nd best:

http://www.jegs.com/i/B%26amp%3BM/130/70266/10002/-1

Whats another 20-30 bucks when it can dramatically reduce the temps on your transmission. It's a small price for extra security. Don't skimp on this part.

lol i wrote by instead of buy.. anyhow... what about if I put a small fan on the cooler? wouldn't that be good enough? and trust me the reason I want to buy the one I saw is not because of price... (80$) but because not one single company is accepting to send me neither a Dipstick nor a cooler to my country
