What bolts to use with ultrabell on a th400??
I ordered these from jegs, hopefully they work. Getting ready to bolt in my TH400 with an ultrabell. I got the trans used and dont have the bolts that were used with it. The ultrabells obviously thicker and I dont wanna play games at the hardware store looking for teh right size quality bolts. Does anyone know if these are correct though? Did a search and couldnt find anything on here for what I needed. Does anyone know if this is the right set of bolts. I believe these are for the bellhousing to motor? And what are the other bolts for?

Humm, looking into it more, I think I just ordered the bolts that hold the housing into the front pump lol. Kinda obvious when I see the non threaded part of the long bolts huh? lol Well I guess its good they arent expensive. lol Anyone know what size bolts I'll need for the bellhousing to the motor?

Indeed the kit you ordered will work just fine.
The long bolts are for bolting the bellhousing to the transmission.
The short bolts are for mounting the tranny to the engine. There may be an extra short bolt, some kits include one.
Hope that helps.

I don't know if it was really right but I just used my stock bolts. And I was short one bolt for what ever reason so I ran to my hardware store and grabbed I believe it was a 12 mm coarse bolt but don't hold me to it. Seemed to bolt up pretty nice. Just make really good and sure the bell sits snug against the block. My bell sat up a little bit and sat off the block just a hair causing it to sit crooked off the block. Which was not a good thing. I don't know if that is what cracked 2 flexplates or just coincidence. With a little grinding it fit nice and snug.

Thats what the last owner of mine said... lol I couldn't tell it was sitting off when I was on my back putting the tranny in. I'm pretty sure I have the exact same bell. Had to put it up on a 2 post to really get a good look at it from my friend that is a mechanic and he even missed it the first time and it broke my sfi approved flexplate. After it kicked that one he really inspected it and found the problem. At first I thought it was something I did wrong on my install.
