Question 3/4 Clutch pack question-adding extra steel

Hello all!

I am in the process of rebuilding my 4l60e, all has gone well so far.
I have just put in the high performance 3/4 clutches (6) and the clearance is huge, if I add an extra steel in the middle so its clutch/steel/clutch/steel/steel/clutch/etc it tightens up the clearance to about .062.

Will this be ok or should I be doing something else to sort out the clearance?

My previous clutches were burnt up pretty bad, gone black and have coned.

Well we prefer to see a clearance of something closer to .030 - .035... after it has a few hits on it! That means you'll need to set it up allot tighter than that! The clutches will compress after being run.

We install 8 Borg Warner High Energy clutches. 6 won't hold long at all. You'll need to play with the stack to get it right. Meaning, use a combination of different thickness steels and clutches.

Use a .065 clutch and a .067 steel to begin with and see how that looks. It'll come out somewhere around .022 - .028.

how do I set it tighter? by adding more steels/clutches?

I dont think I could fit another clutch in there though as there is .062 with the extra steel added
