Anyone do an F-Body A6 conversion yet?
Wondering if anyone has done this yet? If not, is it possible or something totally out of the cards? How are these holding up to power? Are you keeping the paddle shift or totally electronic? I think it would be sick to have a 6 speed paddle shift f-body

I don't think that the 6L80E fits in our trans. tunnels. The 6 speed is much larger than that 4L60E, and the T56 for that matter. It would be cool to have a 6 speed paddle shifted F-body though. lol

Actually, I don't think the 6L80E is that much bigger, or even that much heavier, than a 4L60E. The whole transmission is so technological, it's amazingly compact. It's a baby compared to a 4L80E in both size, weight and parasitic loss, for example. As for strength, I've heard of stockers holding up to supercharged Corvettes. Of course, I heard that on this site from this guy that knew a guy's brother who had a supercharged C6 with a stock 6L80E running fine for thousands of miles. You know how internet hearsay goes

My brother has a C6 with the 6L80E magnacharged setup that makes 500RWHP. usually the vette guys see around 550RWHP before they need to have it replaced. As far as I know, no one is building them right now.
They are in the same size and weight class as the 4L60E.
IT will be a while for a 6L80E conversion, that computer is going to be tricky from what I have been told

It is not feasable.
The new 6 speed automatics have a stand alone controller in the unit itself. It cannot be configured to work with the current modules as it has a completely different BUS communications system. It will take an interface module and quite a bit of wiring to make it happen.
I know of only a handful of companies who are currently trying to solve the puzzle with this series of transmissions.
Trans-Go is not working on it right now.
Raybestos says they have a paper clutch for it, I don't trust it as I've used it before in other units with limited success.
Pratt & Miller has had some success in high H/P combinations, but they have the full support of GM Motorsports.
I have spoken to several Engineers with many firs and the general consensus is this unit will live and die by the software setup. it is much more indepth than the 60E series of trannies. For example, HPTuners released an update very recently that includes some 450 tables that can be modified... these are dedicated transmission tables.
