In most cases there should be a hose connected to it. It is there for a couple of reasons. First to keep water from being able to get in there. Also if for some reason the trans decides to puke out some oil, it does not get directly on to the exhaust and catch fire. Vince

Usually it goes into a 3/16" Rubber Line that goes along the Torque Arm..

That's way wrong..do that and you'll have problems..lol

Most of your older Transmissions had a kick-down Cable to open up the Valves inside when you wanted to downshift. These newer Electronically Controlled Transmissions (pretty much anything with a E in the last part of the name) have a Solenoid System internally. That is what controls the Shifts based off of RPM and Throttle Postion.

Requires removal of trans and the removal of pump to replace.

Most of the ones I have seen are plastic. As said above the pump has to be removed to be properly installed. In most cases you will be fine to run without it. If there is a lot of dirt around it, make sure the hole isn't plugged.
