Default T56 Conversion

Does anyone have an estimate on what it would cost to go from a 4l60e to a t56? I would need the total package. My 4l60e is trashed so I just want to explore all my options and I have always wanted a 6 speed car. Thanks.

I'd say if you can do the work yourself (its not hard) $2000-$2500 depending on the type of parts you get...

You can certainly do it for the cost of rebuilding a 4L60E the right way...after my second 4L60E got shaky this is what I did.

Thank you. Do you happen to have a part list of what will be required? Also, by not hard, what level of expertise is "not hard"? I can do some stuff... but not so sure I could pull it off unless everything is pretty much bolt-on... Thank you

Depends on what you get bro.. I'm doing all the work myself, but I'm getting some good stuff to put behind my Engine. I expect mine to cost about $3700..

It's not too bad of a swap.. if you want to wire everything right you will have to do some modification in the Chassis Harness, and the Engine Harness. Then you will have to do some Cutting..that's the fun part.

Parts:
T56
T56 Bell Housing
T56 Cross Member
Clutch
Flywheel
Pressure Plate
Pilot Bearing
Slave Cylinder
Master Cylinder & Hydraulics
Petals
T56 Wire Connectors
PCM Tune
Shifter & Knob

There is probably one that I missed.. but I think I got it.

What all cutting is involved?

Cut under where the A4 Shifter was for the new T56 Shifter.. and on the Fire Wall you have to drill a hole for the Master Cylinder and the Bolts to hold it in.

Where do you have to drill the hole for the master cylinder? Also, do I also need a new console for the shifter?

Once you get the M6 Petals you will see where it bolts through.. there is a Bracket made in the Steel with the Petals from the Factory. Also, on the Fire Wall is a Template for the Master Cylinder hole..it's put in the Steel from the Factory.

You won't need a new Console for the Shifter, but you will need a new Console Cover Plate.. that has the Shift Boot in it. You should find that pretty easily for your car..I had to hunt for mine.

This is the one for mine that I just finished..the Ash Tray was broken so I got rid of it..

My console is completely different. My ashtray is above the shifter for the A4. How does that work with the conversion if the hole is in the wrong place?

You have to get the Manual one.. that is what I was showing you in the pic. Even for mine the Auto one has the Ash Tray infront of the Shifter..you have to get the Manual Center Console Cover with the Shift Boot in it.

The one I posted is the one for the 1993-1995 Camaro's.. make a post in the classifieds section looking for the one that will fit your year model, I'm sure you will be able to find it.
