4l60e questions

4l60e questions I have a 94 firebird formula with the 4l60e and my second gear is going out. I got a quote from a local guy and he wanted 1200 bucks to rebuild it stock, and thats if i take it out of the car and bring it to him. Well anyways, ive searched craigslist and havent found any 4l60e's that came out of an lt1 fbody, it seems as if they are few and far between around here, but i have found many that came out of trucks, both 1500s and s10s.
Will a 4l60e work out of a truck, or are they different some how? I also found a totalled 93 car i may buy if i can get it cheap enough and it has a good motor and tranny. What will i need to do to get a 4l60 or 700r4 to work in my car.

you may as well buy one from one of the site sponsors. For a couple hundred more you will have a remanned trans and not have to worry about it breaking again. If all you want is one back to stock i'm sure they will have something like that for what this guy will charge to rebuild it. Rebuilding it will not solve the problem. A 4L60 out of a 93 I think will not work because it is not electronic but like I said I could be wrong. I believe a 93 is a 4L60 and a 94 has the E added for electronic. dont quote me though lol. I'm sure I will be corrected.

I would really like to use one of the sponsers for a build but cant afford it right now. Ive found plenty of truck 4l60e's for around the 400-500 dollar mark and i can afford it right now. I would really like to know what i would need to do to make one of them work or if it is even possible.

Well it would need to come from a 93-94 truck as in 93 unlike cars trucks started getting the 4l60E, would need to he 2wd of course and the s10 s15 2wd truck unit should be a direct bolt in except you will need to swap the tail housing , The full size truck unit could also be used but it may be nessesary to cut the ear to clear the exhaust.

Thanks or answering my question. Ive been asking around and couldnt get ahold of anyone who knew who knows what they're talking about. I really appreciate it and will definitly be buying a built unit from you sometime next summer.
