4-2, 3-2 downshift flashes/slips, np w/upshifts
Trans is a flt, I had the stock converter in it, on a ls6 spraying 150.
One day the trans starts feeling like the converter is flasheing an xtra 1500 rpms during the downshift into 2nd. Fluid looks and smells okay. The upshifts are fine.
I replaced the converter thinking I had burnt it spraying at 2500rpms. But it still does the same thing with a 3800 vig, it flashes to 5000 during the 4-2 or 3-2 downshifts. Not during a upshift from 1 to 2.
Shouldn't the upshift be slipping or flashing if it was the transmission?
Any ideas?

I should add, that it starts slipping once it has downshifted into 2nd. Its almost like hardcore tourque reduction and KR or slipping, but it really just feels like its stalling high ONLY when it completes the downshift into 2nd

it's a long shot, but I had this problem once myself. It turned out the built tranny needed a bigger cooler as the converter was emptying on it's way down the track. I would put the biggest engine oil cooler in for the tranny that's within reason, with nice big lines back to the tranny and go from there. That is if the datalogs are indeed pointing at the converter/tranny. John Deere Hy-Gard trans fluid is rumored to be the stuff to use as well.

Interesting, bc I was wondering if it was a fluid problem... but wouldn't it have done it from the get go? I checked and added fluid... so lack of fluid isn't it, but I wonder if it is a fluid delivery issue...
But again, why only on the downshift into 2????
