2nd to 3rd gear shift lags
Guys, I know I'm probably running on borrowed time as it is, but I'm still running the stock 60E and would like to till at least winter. The trans had very firm, quick shifts with the stock engine and stock stall. I now have a built 346 with a Yank PT4000 converter.
Now that I'm tuned with the new engine in place, I have a lagging 2nd to 3rd gear shift at WOT. The 1st to 2nd is a quick and firm shift as it was before. I'm not sure how long it takes before it finally engages but it seems like quite some time when I'm going down the track. There does not appear to be any slipping once shifted, but it takes quite some time to find that gear.
The line pressure has been turned up some by the tuner. WOT shift points are ~6600-6700rpm. Is there anything that can be done to make the shift happen sooner to prolong trans life?
Thanks

i noticed at the track last year, that on the 2-3 shift my car bounced off the rev-limiter a couple times at WOT before the shift. it only happens at the track but i dont even have a stall yet and im just bolt ons with gears out back.

My belief, and there are some others that have attacked this the same way...the trans flid us pushed to the back of the pan by then and the pick up is getting some air ( I think iots toward front of pan if I recall). There are 4l60 pans that are slated forward (Tahoe??) that keep the fluid in front better. it doesnt seem to be an issue below 400 hp. Perhaps for some, they can add just a little more fluid or maybe a deep pan.

LOL, yeah had to have some tuning done on the car... It wouldn't really run at all with the setup I have and the converter wouldn't stay locked up before. A tune shop called MC racing that uses HP tuners has already spent a day tuning my car which set me back 400 bones. I was curious if he could tweak that shift was all. He has already turned up the line pressure. Wasn't sure if he could do much more.
