Default low transmission fluid, Whats the cause?

Well recently my car has been running like a pos, sometimes it will run perfectly it shifts properly and rapes every ricer, but sometimes it takes forever to shift, and last night i race a murano and i lost, so i checked my car and saw that the car is low on tranmission fluid i did a hot check and it did not even get to the 80 degree mark, is my tranmission done? I recently had a trans service about 1400 miles ago and it ran ok until recelty that i started dd it! And when i shift from park to drive i hear like a grinding noise coming from behind? Help!
