Default TCC lockup at the dragstrip

anyone here have their tranny programmed to lockup the TCC at the dragstrip near the end of the track? i've heard that it gives you a little extra, I was just wondering how many people actually do it and how bad it is for the lockup clutches. I have a stock 4l60e with a yank 3600.

it generates an incredible amount of heat in the trans ,with a stocker its not good.

2 part answer. 1st part is can the converter and trans handle it. You need a multi disk converter to handle a WOT lock up. The trans will also see more power and need to be stronger. Leaving lock up on during a WOT shift is the hardest on the trans. 2nd is will it make you faster, and for most NA guys the answer is no. The converter is slipping but this keeps you in the power band, actually giving you more HP. If your car is FI, then your torque curve is different and it will probably make you faster.

Where do you trap, for RPM? If you're not going to upshift
and you're trapping at maybe 5500RPM or less in 3rd, you
are still getting torque multiplication out of the converter
most likely (I am on my 3500/2.0). The -only- reason to
lock is to take you through the trap before upshift. And a
change to other things (like rev limit, tire height, gearing)
may pay off more in this case, without the wear / damage.
Unless the converter is woefully inefficient, which the SS
series is not.

I have locked mine up at WOT and had it hold, it just made
the car slower is all.

not high enough! i was thinking abotu doing gears, but I want to do a cam and push a 200 shot through and ideally have enough gear to make it through with a 26" tire so i'm gonna wait until the dust settles before deciding on a gear swap
