Default used powerglide... need some help, please.

I picked up a used Powerglide. I'm looking to rebuild it myself and mate it with a LS1 '01 Z28. The LS1 will be putting down 600RWHP when all said and done. What do I need to do to the Powerglide to get it to handle the power. A local shop will build it to handle 800hp for $975.00 parts and labor, but I would like to do it my self and save a few dollars. Is ther a good kit out there? I found a ATI kit thet ranges from $200- $500. How many chutchs should I go back with, 5, 6, 7, 10? CAN ANY ONE HELP HERE?

Here is the ATI link

For the rwhp you are talking about I'm not sure if a glide is quite what you need. I personally feel that a Th400 or a TH350 would be just fine. I looked at the link you provided and it appears as the more expensive kit is giving you more for the money if it is coming with a clutch hub and a valve body. I would ask those questions when ordering to make sure. I know that some PG kits are special for those applications and that might be what they are talking about there. Ask before you order. As far as the amount of clutches, 6 or 7 will be more than fine for what you are doing. Good luck. Vince
