Default Shelby's Super Snake Mustang Offers 800hp

2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake strikes with an astonishing 800 HP

Ray Wert — Shelby's just announced they will unveil the new Super Snake post title package for the 2012 Ford Shelby GT500 at this month's New York Auto Show. The highlight of the new Super-slithery 'stang is it's whopping 800 horsepower optional tuning package. Wow... just... wow.

The 2012 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake post title package includes:

• Ford Racing handling pack including dynamic adjustable dampers, lowering springs, tuned stabilizer bars and front strut tower brace
• An optional Shelby / Eibach handling pack is available
• 6-speed manual transmission with 3.73:1 rear axle ratio and short-throw shifter
• The standard tune upgrades power to over 750 HP and 590 ft./lbs. of torque
• Optional Shelby / Kenne Bell 800 horsepower tune on pump gas
• Borla exhaust system
• Shelby-designed Alcoa 20-inch wheels in durabright or anthracite
• Forged Shelby / Baer brakes with 6 piston calipers and cross drilled / vented rotors
• Front brake cooling ducts and behind the door side scoops
• Unique fiberglass hood featuring classic Shelby design and pins
• Shelby signature Super Snake stripes in either matte black or matte white
• "Super Snake" vehicle badges and official Shelby CSM interior plate
• "Shelby" lettering across the rear deck lid
• Optional two tone leather interior
• Shelby signature embroidered headrests, floor mats and other Shelby designed components

In addition to the Super Snake, Shelby American will also display the limited edition 2012 Shelby GT350 coupe and convertible.

Yeah, yeah, whatever — we just said an 800 horsepower Ford Mustang. OK, who's got the over/under on how long after the Super Snake's released that the first owner crashes?

I saw no mention of a larger tire or less weight, so handling will remain an issue. Still a badass package for those who can afford such things.

No, but traction is.

Cool car. I doubt it's going to be anything special stock, but all it's going to take is a set of slicks in the back and it will be a rocket!

That's incredible! Just 5yrs ago, who would've really considered that a "truly street capable" build? I think I'd be afraid to take it out for a drive.

Anyone who is buying a "pony car" wont be looking at this. This car will be $100k+ and production numbers will be slim. Most people couldn't afford that if they sold their house and children. This is just some toy for rich ***** who have wallet measuring contests.

Slicks will cause ultimate destruction of the drive-train from the engine back. If you bought this car you wouldn't put slicks on it, and neither would I. Thats what our 4th gens are for.

Me too. Thats too much power for the street, and for street tires. Its an intersection spin-out waiting to happen.

I haven't looked into it much, but I don't think the GT500s have any problems with breaking ****.

I'm just gonna out right say that this car is retarded. WTF was Shelby thinking by putting 20" wheels on a RWD production car with that much power? The last one got beat by a stock GT-R in the 1/4 on stock tires and this one I guarantee will have more traction issues, having to support an extra 100hp. Handling of this car forget about it, I wouldn't want to take that car on a turn around the block.

Shelby should have offered these packages with drag radials.

If it's like the other shelby's it might get out run buy the 5.0. They can produce the slowest high hp cars ever.
