Default 2013 Cadillac ATS2.0T to feature updated LNF engine

Cadillac ATS 2.0T to feature updated Pontiac Solstice GXP LNF Engine

The turbo ATS engine is a reworked and updated version of the LNF engine seen in cars such as the Cobalt SS, Saturn Sky, and Pontiac Solstice GXP. It is well documented that this engine puts out VERY good power with minimal mods. It's no secret that the ATS2.0T will be the choice for ATS buyers with performance in mind despite the V6 having higher ratings.

True. I remember hearing about people getting over 300hp at the wheels from those motors with some relatively mild modifications and tuning.

If that is accurate, I now want a Sky Redline. That's amazing.

Yep.. those engines tended to be underrated just like F-bodies I believe for insurance reasons. GM an upgrade kit as well for the LNF that boosted HP to 290 and ft-lbs to 340 I believe. That's pretty nasty out of a little 2.0L 4banger..

Edit.. wasn't all this info already give???

https://ls1tech.com/forums/automotiv...xt-camaro.html

A broad lineup of engines – including two four-cylinders and a V-6 for North America – delivers strong power to the ATS and capitalizes on the car's lightweight structure to complement its performance with efficiency. The optional engines include an all-new 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 270 horsepower (201 kW) and Cadillac's award-winning 3.6L V-6, estimated at 318 horsepower (237 kW).

At 135hp/L, the new 2.0T is one of the most power-dense engines in the industry, topping engines from European competitors. ATS will offer both manual and automatic transmission options, along with rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations.

The ATS will deliver peak highway fuel economy of more than 30 mpg.

I've tuned a SS Cobalt with it, you'd be amazed at how you can make the turbo lag disappear.

Looks like the 4 banger might find its way back into a fbody. I personally like the idea give it to the people that want the looks and mpgs AND help keep the cafe regulations in check so the rest of us can enjoy the fast ones.Either way it's a win win for the consumer.

I'd like to see the LNF put out 300 HP in stock form. I don't think GM will do that considering the V6 puts out just over 300 HP.

Many stock dyno results suggest that the LNF was underrated at the crank by GM. Also, the ATS2.0T is not getting an LNF. It is getting an updated version (think LS1 to LS6..same displacement, just better internals). I highly doubt that with an upgraded turbo and improved direct injection that it will only put out an additional 10HP over the original LNF.

No idea, he tunes all the LNFs around here I think. The car was Mike's (SlowbaltSS/MrClap).

You sort of can, you could have ordered a Cobalt SS (LNF) and told the sales guy to have the shop also install the GMPP stage 1 kit - warranty still applies and you have your 300hp plus.

Not sure if the stage kit works on the new Regal GS but most likely it does.

Yep. I believe it was priced at $595 for the Cobalt and Solstice/Sky. Pricey tune, but to keep your warranty, I would have checked the box.

I've got a Saab 9-3 with the 2.0T, but it's the older version compared to the newer direct injected models. From the factory, it put down a respectible 210hp and 230ft/lbs at the wheels. This was at 11 or 12psi of boost in gears 3-5. With tuning, I'm now at ~260hp and 300 ft/lbs at 16.5psi and the car is very fun. It only weighs 3100lbs and it'll respectible for a daily driver. I know guys that have upgraded the down pipe, intake to the turbo, and made around 300hp at the wheels which is quite fun. The boost does come in quickly as the turbo isn't very big. Boost is limited in first and second gears, but it's plenty to get it moving.

I'm going to be interested to see how the new ATS looks and drives. It's supposed to be a direct competitor to the A4 and 3-series, so we'll see.
