2014 LS3 Chevrolet Super Sport sedan Pricing Released
2014 Chevrolet Super Sport Priced at $44,470
DETROIT – The suggested retail price for the 2014 Chevrolet Super Sport (SS) sedan is $44,470, including a $995 destination charge, Chevrolet announced today. Title, tax and license fees are extra. The SS goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2013.
Chevrolet's first rear-drive performance sedan since 1996 – comes well-equipped in only one model, with a power-operated sunroof ($900) and full-size spare tire ($500) as the only options.
"The all-new SS is engineered for performance enthusiasts who've been clamoring for a rear-wheel-drive sedan," said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. "Adding the SS to the lineup further solidifies Chevrolet's position as America's best-selling performance-car brand and completes a trifecta that includes the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray and Camaro Z/28."
Standard equipment includes:
It is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission that can be shifted manually using TAPshift paddles mounted on the steering wheel.
The rear axle has an aggressive 3.27 ratio that enhances the feeling of acceleration.
Additional chassis and suspension features include:
The SS will be available in five exterior colors – Mystic Green, Silver Ice Metallic, Red Hot 2, Phantom Black Metallic and Heron White. All interiors will be Jet Black and feature sport front bucket seats.
The SS will be subject to the gas guzzler tax. Pricing information will be updated when the charge is determined.

In 2009 the Pontiac G8 GXP version started at $37,610, but did not have most of the features or tweaks (aluminum body parts, wide tread) standard or optional that the SS does. The SS however does not offer a manual like the GXP, not yet anyway.

Jesus Christ these prices are amazing. Even if you put 20 grand down you're still looking at 400 a month payment on it.
No thanks, I'll wait a couple years and buy a used one for low 20's.

Many people don't pay MSRP for vehicles either, it will be interesting to see what an SS goes for our the door after six months or a year on the market. Especially if they make changes to it.

It'll probably go exactly the same way the 5th gens did. Dealers tried to rape people for the first year, succeeded somewhat but then when they've got a bunch of cars just sitting the prices will drop.

If I were in the market for one I would wait until 2016 which is the final year. By then it will probably offer a manual and be packing the LT1 plus whatever additions or tweaks are made through the production run. Just like the GTO and G8.

Two different cars there. Most would cross shop this with the CTS-V, the coming ATS-V, the Dodge Charger, and the German offerings. Most people shopping the SS are needing the back seat space, which the Stingray has none of.

No way I'd choose this over the current SRT8 Charger. 392 seems like a great motor from everything I've read and the looks of this SS sedan just don't do it for me. No aggression in it at all. Looks like a slightly beefed up Malibu.

They are still pretty evenly matched. I wonder what difference the slight loss of weight, improved aerodynamics and wider rear tires will make on the SS performance when it finally arrives?

Saw this car at the Arlington power tour stop in person it looks VERY VERY good far better then the pictures. But I do agree that it should have started a little lower in price regardless of what its competition is priced at.

I like it but don't love it I have a 2012 RT Charger and we have had nothing but problems with it. So the old lady and are looking at the SS really hard but think we are going to wait for 15' or 16'. We like the way the Charger looks and feels and interior but it's been in the shop 6 times for timing chain and the electric steering, plus we went out and bought a dodge when we have been all about GM cars. Don't get me wrong it's a nice car and all but it's not what we expected it to be, we are defentily buying GM next and doubt we buy a Dodge every again.

I like the Charger better. Then again, I think the G8 looks better and if you're going to compete in a "racing" market with another big car... DON'T!
PS Pricing it like a Corvette isn't their best decision ever. Yeah, it's more car, but then again, it's less... "performance."

This car won't be cross shopped with a corvette. Anybody who is looking for an all-out performance car shouldn't be shopping for sedans anyway. It falls exactly where it needs to in the market IMO.
Family car that you can race in-Chevy SuperSport
Race car that you can put your family in-Camaro

My buddy bought an 09.5 GXP M6 about 6 months ago, and the thing is a blast to drive and comfortable as hell front and back (and I'm 6'5"). It's not the same thing as an Fbody, GTO, or vette, but it's not supposed to be.
The Charger's rear seats are nothing compared to a G8's. Also, after several years of seeing the chargers used as cop cars, rental cars, hood-rat mobiles, and donks, I just get the whole "mid/late 90's Ford Taurus/late 80's caprice" vibe out of them-it's just a plain vanilla car with 4 doors. For 20 grand they'll throw in some cool seats, a hood scoop, and a badass motor, but still a whole lot of "meh" rental car feeling going on to me there. The SRT8 300c is a big step up from the Charger IMO, but it still doesn't win me over the G8 GXP completely (though it is very close).
If this car truly is a new and improved G8-I love it without even seeing/driving it yet lol.
