Camaro Z/28 runs the ring
Surprising there isn't a thread about it already;
the Chevy Camaro Z/28 has run the ring in slightly wet conditions in......7.37.47
Statement from Autoblog.com:

To put that into larger context, that makes the new Z/28 faster than the latest Porsche 911 Carrera S, faster than the Lexus LFA, faster than the Ferrari 430 Scuderia, Lamborghini Murcielago, Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and SLS AMG. That also makes the new Camaro Z/28 faster around the Nordschleife than any other American metal this side of a Viper or Vette. Now that's some serious muscle indeed.

I will hopefully be a Z/28 owner one day soon. Gotta wait till they drop their ridiculous pricing! Was hoping that it would be cheaper than a ZL1 but not so.

Yup, not sure if it's official yet but it's been confirmed that it's more than the ZL1, how much more I'm not sure, I've heard $60K but maybe someone knows more that myself or JMurray87.

So a production Camaro that costs more than a Corvette? Did GM hire someone from Ford whose sole intention was to try and ruin the Camaro and/or Z28 name?
Sorry, but this is absofuckinglutely ridiculous. And it's still a bloated and overweight pig. For that kinda money I'd rather have a modernized 1st gen. Probably still have a few grand left over too.

Some people simply don't "get it" when it comes to this kind of build. They'll be talking about how much better a used ZO6 is and while that's my personal favorite Corvette, it's not easy for everyone to gather in what this Z/28 really is. Many, most perhaps, just don't know how much different this Camaro is from all others before it, including the ZL1. This one is nothing short of a collectors dream and I only hope that all but 2 or 3 buyers are NOT collectors!!!

That video appears to show a car which could've easily run even quicker... However, comma,.... What's with those CRAPPY WIPER BLADES not sticking to the windshield at 150+mph????

Or, we could stop comparing a new car to a used car. You know, because that is a ridiculous game to play, because you can almost always get a used car and mod it to be faster/handle better/whatever for the same price or cheaper as a new car.

Yeah well for the price of a used Z06 I could really beef up a 4th gen Z28 and beat your Z06...

and as far as the non radio issue its an option for the radio and i bet it only saves 30-40 lbs so its not that big of a deal to add it but damn is it a sweet car. plus GM doesnt want you to use it as a DD.

agreed, i dont understand why people always compare new cars like that. im just glad GM is still pushing the envelope with these cars. and clearly their listening to the market (push for a lighter camaro)

They quoted outrunning a Porsche 911 Carrera S by a second. I'd take the 911. It's still refined and date night friendly. The Z is just a track car where as the cars around it in nurberg times are meant for more than track times.
