Spy Shot: Mercedes CLS 65 AMG The concept of a four-door coupe didn't initially appeal to us, but you have to admit that in action at the Nurburgring, the Mercedes-Benz CLS looks stunning. Especially in full AMG trim: this is the CLS 65 AMG. Fitted with the same engine as the CL 65 AMG - a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 delivering 612bhp, 738lb ft of torque and sub-4.5 second 0-60mph acceleration - and AMG Speedshift five-speed auto transmission, it's likely to be one of the ultimate super-coupe purchases of the next few years. Even if it does have two doors too many.
The twin exhaust pipe pairs indicate that this hot AMG-tuned version packs a supercharged 5.5-litre V8 under the bonnet. The one you see here is the short-wheelbase five-seater, though a seven-seat LWB version will beef up the range. Suspension has been lowered for testing on the Nurburgring here.

Why does the last part talk about a blown 5.5L V8 under the hood when the 65 in CLS 65 obviously indicates Merecedes current 6.0L twin turbo V12? And what's this about a LWB 7 seat variant. I have heard nothing about a 7 place CLS and I find it pretty ridiculous to think that you could find room for 7 people in a vehicle marketed as a 4 door coupe.

Maybe it's going to be a limo with a third row seat?
Seriously though, I think they're saying this car is the CLS55 AMG and that there wil also be a CLS65. Sort of like how the S, CL and SL have both "55" and "65" variants.

Actually it's a CLS63 with the new optional Performance Package
The new CLS63 AMG offers an optional AMG Performance Package which is what you see in the pic.
The new Performance Package for the CLS63 includes the following components:
- 19” AMG multi-piece twin-spoke light-alloy wheels,
(front: 8.5 x 19 ET 25 with 255/35R19, rear: 10 x 19 ET 28 with 285/30R19)
- Multiple-disc limited slip differential incl. reinforced final drive unit
- Internally ventilated composite brake discs measuring 380 x 36mm on the front axle
- AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel in leather /Alcantara (black)
Here's the info on an actual CLS65 AMG. As you can see the CLS65 has side intercooler vents on the front apron.
