http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...rburgring.html

They suffered catastrophic engine failure at the ring...I wonder if they will cancel the car...big ceramic brakes and what not. The 'crapmaro'(as those svt fanboys call it LOL, what a bunch of tools) Z28 could be beat, if that engine can survive more than 20mins LOL

From svtforums; its 600hp capable but detuned to 550hp. Sounds drastic LOL

It's called the Voodoo. 5.2l flat plane crank V8. There have been leaks by suppliers etc going back to last June about it. Targeted for 530-570 hp though allegedly capable of 600. 8k rpm capable etc..

Ferrari makes 570 from a 4.5l flat plane crank setup. This engine will be in a Z28 competitor ala GT350R.

The more tame car is believed to be the version hence the difference in sound, which will be the lower model to it. Either a Mach 1 or standard GT350 ala Boss 302 and 302 Laguna Seca.

For reference sake Ford already produces a 500+hp Coyote called the Aluminator XS with off the shelf parts using a standard cross plane crank so with a FPC the numbers are believable. It even comes with a 2yr 24k warrantly

The failures were not confirmed nor reported by anyone else. It is typical journalistic failure and rumor spreading. All cars made it back the next day as testing is for several days. Their were early failures months ago of development mules but not at the Ring. A few people on the 6g site are reporting it is faster or equal to the Z/28 everywhere and on the straight was 5mph faster. The info is posted on the 6g website of Fords early impressions and results. Even includes a few sections where it was timed.

^Nice^ I found that weird they were talking about failure and no picture of oil/parts spreaded on the track.

I hope this will drop the Z28 price to a point where I can buy it

And just an FYI, the magazines are clueless in regards to this car or the alleged GT500. The 5.8 Trinity is all but confirmed dead as the line it is produced on has been shut down and retooled for another product. Yet they continue to spout off about it being in another car. Although the engine will fit with modifications according to Dave Perciak when asked, it won't be used due to European pedestrian crash standards on the hood. The journalist interpret him answering a direct question as confirmation when workers have verified the engine is dead.

The same magazines also said the 13 GT500 was a twin turbo car with IRS while testing. I guess it's hard to differentiate blower whine from turbo whistle when you don't know your *** from a hole in the ground.

They just clamor for views. Any info they get is from 6g. They obviously don't search enough though. The only info I listen to with journalist and magazines in general is reviews of cars already released for production. Ford never said the new Mustang would lose weight yet magazines speculated it was and spread the rumors.

If they are indeed doing a FPC car to compete with the Z/28, I would guess it will be more likely to close in on Z/28 pricing than drop Z/28 pricing.

Lets be honest , there will be no price drop on any z28! Imo im real happy that the price of the hell cat was fair for the performance, we can only hope that big power cars, with no options will be better priced, i doubt it but its something to hope for,

what would be interesting is a .5" to .75" deck raising and 350 cubic inches.

there is a aftermarket flat plane LS3 out there. really ran hard at the strip but sounded like a ferrari.

Listen to an Audi FPC V8 or even the Lotus Esprit TT. Definitely better sounding than Ferrari. I doubt Ford goes with the FPC though. Awful lot of development for a low volume 60-70k car.

This is an Audi V8 turned flat plane. Ignore the German.

This is Lotus's take on it.
