That is one hell of a car, speed, handling and luxury. Cadillac is just killing it with the design as well.

Interesting that they neutered the numbers a bit to not encroach on the Z06. Seems the Vette is still sacred and not to be matched.

I wish they would've just detuned it instead of ditching the dry sump

Why couldn't GM offer it with the 7-speed? Enforced pussification?

Would't be shocked if the manual take rates on CTS-V's were very small. Why build it if no one buys it? AMG, M cars, etc almost universally have ditched traditional manuals.

Not saying I like it, but can understand there may be a business case there.

Very cool car. I read about it on Car and Driver this morning. I'm going to assume high 11 second quarter mile times

I'll take one in black with an intake/exhaust/pulley/and a dyno tune

Agreed. Why build a performance car and take out one of the best performance options on the engine? Not that I'd take a $85K Caddy on a road course, but I'd at least like the option without worrying about oil starvation in my ~$20K engine...

Basically what he said. As much of a "row your own gears" fan I am, autos are faster and more efficient than ever now, and the competition options their cars the same way. I'd be more upset if they did this in the Camaro or Vette, but no manual in a Caddy doesn't surprise me. I think we're about 15-20 years away from seeing the last of the manual transmission in any application.

Seems more like forcing buyers into an autotragic is the new status quo for luxury cars, which is extremely disappointing, both in substance and in the fact that GM feels compelled to conform.

Detuned LS4? Can already hear the GM bashers - that's the stock Z06 tune! It goes faster than the Z06, and on and on.

On another note, it looks badass and is a very nice progression in the V-models IMO. Also wish for a manual option, but that's because I'm a dying dinosaur.

With a 4145 lbs of curb weight it is just a little bit too heavy. They seriously need to get this under two tons of weight. Other than that it looks to be a great car.

I saw this link, http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars..._artTrnsprtr_2 and thought... "OH, I need to see this!"

Thankfully, it solidified my preference for CTS V over the ATS... almost v... by comparison. This car ROCKS!

As far as the transmission, they've made the right call in my book. #1, this will limit costs for Cadillac. #2, the take rate for manuals HAS to be minimal(or they'd have kept one). #3, it happens to be the better unit. #4, this really is a luxury car and nearly all luxury cars have been available only with an automatic for about the past 40 years, so it's hardly new.

I think the 2 are so close, there won't be any room for any nonsense. The cars will show differences based on what they are... race car in disguise ... luxury bad ***. 4100+ ... 3500ish...

This is a condition of the automobile... it's either going to be fairly heavy or extremely expensive...or both. They have to build it to stay together though.

On that note: There will be plenty of discussion as we move forward regarding the upcoming Camaro. All I wanna say is, looking at this and the ATS, the Camaro will fall between the two in weight. With that in mind, there is reason to want a lighter CTS-V, but man... this car is outstanding!

Yea the weight a little bit on the heavy side but I'm sure the LT4 & handling will make up for it! Can't wait to see some 1/4 mile times & of course the Nurburgring! ATS-V & CTS-V are going to dominate.. Looking forward to seeing a blacked out one. Love that interior as well

We are talking about just over 1% difference in the HP/TQ outputs, so detuned may be a bit strong of a phrase. The numbers don't match, which is a touch annoying. Maybe the computer pulling timing on a heavier car results in lower numbers...? Not sure.

Also, LT4 - not LS4.
